The merciless increase once again in prices at the pump

At midnight on Monday, when most were in deep slumber, the prices of fuel went up again for umpteenth time this year. The increase is merciless and has sent prices soaring well above the ten dollar mark. So to greet the New Year, premium went up by forty cents and is now selling at ten dollars and twenty-nine cents per gallon at the pumps. And if you think that’s a big jump, well regular went up by fifty-three cents and is selling at ten dollars and four cents. There is a little relief for consumers and that is because the price of diesel went down by five cents and is selling at nine dollars and twenty-four cents. So the next time you head to the pumps, you are bound to feel the pain where it hurts the most: your pockets.

Good news for Guatemalan taxi drivers, they sure will make it this new year season with their cheap Guatemala gas here in the Cayo District. Good job San Ignacio town board for selling license to Guatemalan taxi drivers.

My Major in public health is not environmental health, however, my my major included certain environmental clases and my understanding of environmental health is the protection of the environment as it enhances the lives of individuals and the community as a whole. However, this so called environmentalists spread poverty by promoting fear. For example, they use the oil well that caught fire in the gulf but on purpose fail to mention that it is the only well that has caught fire out of a total of fifty-eight thousand wells. Yes!, you heard right; fifty-eight thousand wells. By the year 2012, according to today financial report, the gallon of gas which now cost two dollares and fifteen cents in the U.S. will cost six dollares. Thanks to extreme environmentalists.

  7. EL CHE says:

Over the past few days the UDP has sign over 100,000,000 million $$$ in loans to build better roads, wood bridges,by the way,in belize a mile of road to pay cost 1 million, who can believe such lie?so in order to pay back this millions belizeans will have to suffer, higher gas prices, higher taxes,i am not a pup or udp deciple by the way.i dont believe in those 2 criminal organizations in belize as political parties lead by criminals with a lawdgree as ministers.

  8. EL CHE says:

It is very easy for those crook ministers in belize to raise prices on gas, they dont pay for gas,in fact they dont pay for anything, they get everything free,no duty on cars, free gas, free visa to come over to the USA.free everything.while poor belizeans have to suffer and work hard to buy a galone of gasoline.

  9. LADY says:

World prices are up, so if prices for fuel don’t go up locally, then the gas companies will be selling at a loss. Come on people, stop playing politics, gas is only being sold for what we pay to import it. You can’t blame PUP or UDP for this.

Be for real Lady don’t you understand what is going on in Belize these politicians know nothing about economics they are mostly lawyers and only interested in creating laws that will be to their advantage and to use tax increases such as oil to fill in for their budget shortfalls those are used like valves that they turn on at will, ask yourself how many new industries can be credited to the government recently in order to make jobs available and increase the tax base in order to ease the impact of their nonsensical tax policies on the citizens of Belize.
