2 cops get bail at Magistrates and Supreme Court

Rodney Williams

We told you earlier Yanira Escobar’s fifteen year sentence has been reduced to six years for manslaughter. While she will still start the New Year behind bars, two cops who were recently charged got out on bail today. Twenty-four year old Rodney Williams, a police constable, who was charged with Unlawful Carnal knowledge for allegedly having sex with a fourteen year old minor, was granted bail of ten thousand dollars in the Supreme Court by Justice Troadio Gonzalez.  While there was no objection by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Cheryl-Lynn Vidal, she did request Judge Gonzalez to order Williams not to interfere with the witnesses and to stay away from the alleged victim. The minor claims that she and Williams were intimate back in August and she is now over three months pregnant.

Derrick Gideon

The other bad cop is Police Constable Derrick Gideon, who was accused of forgery related offenses. He was granted bail of one thousand dollars in the Belize City Magistrate’s court this morning. Gideon is due back in court in early 2011for using a forged employment letter in an attempt to secure a two thousand dollar loan from Heritage Bank. He is charged with two counts of Uttering a Forged Document, one count of Possession of a Forged Document and Attempting to Obtain funds from Heritage Bank.

Williams has done an excellent job of following rules so far, so why not let him back into the community as long as he promises to stay away from the child he raped & bred.

Earlier this year, a man who was stabbed 63 times was too afraid to testify against his attackers & we are telling a 14 year old that she will either live in fear, move to avoid this fool or with enough intimidation change her story. Will the court demand a DNA test after the child is born to make sure even if this girl changes her mind & the child is proven to be his that this man will be prosecuted for statutory rape?.
