Government resumes normal relations with Channel Five
The government embargo against Channel Five has been lifted. That was the only item in an official statement coming from Cabinet which met in a regular session today. According to the release from the Office of the Prime Minister, “Cabinet has agreed to lift the ban and reinstate normal relations with Great Belize Productions/Channel Five on the commitment of Channel Five to be visibly fair and impartial.” This means that this station will now be able to continue to report the news without fear or favor and to maintain the highest standard of journalism that has been the hallmarks of this station. We also take it to mean that government ministers and public officers are now able to speak to this station with their side of the story and we will continue to seek them out as we have always done. The ban was imposed on December seventh but cooler heads prevailed, which resulted in today’s announcement.
and……………STILL NO WORD FROM THE BELIZE PRESS ORGANIZATION.
If professionals at this level do not organize…………….. how do we expect less educated people to be organized AND STAND TOGETHER FOR THEIR RIGHTS???????????????.
SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE PEOPLE…………………….SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.
Finally something that make sense coming from this government.
