Attempted Murder Charge against Guatemalan national dropped

Manuel de Jesus Lopez Gomez

Two of four charges brought against a Guatemalan national were dismissed today. Manuel de Jesus Lopez Gomez, who is accused of stabbing Clive Hyde in September 2009, was initially charged with Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm, Grievous Harm and Use of Deadly means of Harm. This morning a directive from the DPP’s office was forwarded to the court, saying that there is not sufficient evidence to proceed with the charges of Attempted Murder and Dangerous Harm, but the other two will go to trial. It was also decided that his case will now be heard at the Magistrate’s level instead of the Supreme Court. The stabbing took place on September nineteenth, 2009 on North Front Street. Hyde, a resident of that area, says he got into an altercation with Lopez, who pulled out a knife and stabbed him once in the stomach. Police headed out to the scene and caught Lopez, not far away. Both men had to be taken to the hospital, because Lopez injured his own hand during the attack. He was today released on bail and his case was adjourned until January twenty-seventh.

Well he got bail what will be his intention. He will miss his court day like every latino in america. They skip their court day and expect some one will get sorry for them.

  2. Robert says:

We have enough Belizean-born criminals. Why do we need to import them? When he finishes his sentence, drag him to the border and KICK HIM OUT!

  3. BZNinCALI says:

We’ll watch this one & see where it goes. I will wait to see of he is claiming self defense.

  4. Earl Grey says:

SEND HIM TO THE PRISON FARM TOO…………

DO THE CRIME… DO THE TIME….w/hard labour.

  5. B groovy says:

People I’m on the fence on this case.

  6. Belizeanbornlatino says:

Well i sure agree with Robert, make sure he serves his sentence and out with his @$$, but to Mr. I’m happy in North Carolina, just look out as to how you express yourself about latinos, ’cause i’m sure there are plenty of your people whatever your ethnicity that do the same. As a matter of fact what the hell does ethnicity have anything to do with how they’ll react??

  7. Belizeanbornlatino says:

While i agree with Robert, i have to say to Mr. Happy in North Carolina, that his comment has no foundation, let me tell you my friend whatever your ethnicity i’m sure there are plenty of your people doing exactly the same thing. To be exact a persons ethnicity has nothing to do with their behaviour!!

  8. ceo says:

Hey! My Belizean people we are all latinos!

This word does not denote ones race or the language one speaks! This is a terminology coined here in the US that is inclusive of all peoples of Central and South America regardless of your race. There are those with african roots, those with Mayan roots, those with Anglo roots, with Asian roots and with a mixture of several of these roots. This is why this word was coined. So when you list yourself as latino you also list your race. We all eat corn, beans and dance to latin music.

I wish the TV stations and the radio stations in Belize would realize this fact when they are on the air.

u people in north carolina should most infact be affected by this comment cause u might not have a green card . but this case looks simply like one of those cases where the black man use to wait for the poor hispanics from cayo or up north to come to bze city and they just use to rob and abuse them now the latinos are stabbing back to keep from being bullied and now u have the balls to act as victims and the people im talkin about are the bze city creoles who are not even a race cause all they eat is latino food rice and beans aint nothing but latinos food

Everone who is making comments on this site basically has the attitude of guilty until proven more guilty. Innocence is no where in their thouhgts. I hate when people act like a lynch mob and react on what they read or hear without having any knowledge of the facts! Were you present when this crime took place? If not, then close your mouth and be the last to speak on someone else’s situation because if it were you in his shoes you wouldn’t want people to rush to judgement on you! Where is the non-prejudicial commentors who truly believe in innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. And with that being said, do you even know what a reasonable doubt is? Pure 100% ignorance is what these comments are that are being posted. Take the time out that is needed to educate yourselves and accept all people. Quit being a bunch of racist!!! Truly I see that racism still exist and it is very prevalent. My God!!! Where are You because these people need Your help. God Bless!!!
