Police substation closed due to a faulty roof
Residents of Belama have reported an increase in crime within their community over the past two months. The spike is being attributed to the unannounced closure of the police substation in the area. The temporary closure, according to what we know, is due to a faulty roof. According to Freetown area representative Francis Fonseca he has written the Minister of Police and Public Safety to request immediate action in addressing the matter. The Belama substation had been vacated since mid-November and patrols in the area are being dispatched from a branch of the police department in Caribbean Shores. Fonseca says, the number of burglaries and other criminal activity in the area have risen. Police press officer Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood told News Five today that the building is currently being refurbished but did not say when it will be reopened.
Would be nice to have a picture of this substation a picture is worth a thousand words, this substation I don’t believe is so large that the work cannot be done in about a week. What is the hold up? Get with it GOB we don’t need more crime we need to lessen the crime.
That’s how the government of Belize is lackadaisical. They can’t renovate a football field so Belize can host a FIFA soccer match or renovate a police substation to curb crime; but they surely make sure their political supporters and partners land a lucrative contract.
I suppose these idiots will just continue to sit around and do nothing, render helpless by their own laziness and stupidity. There are fit men on the force in Belama, fix the darn roof you lazy !@#$%^&*, instead of waiting around for the GOB to fix everything.
The course of action here is so very simple, yet the only solution is to sit and wait while the crack-heads victimized the neighborhood. (Sometimes, I think some people don’t deserve certain things in life).
Why doesn’t the community come together in the meantime to solve the problem? Be heroes in your own neighborhoods, !@#$%^&.

infront of the abanboned Police Station is a truck load of mud and garbage that was taken out of the drains and left there 2 months ago, both basketball courts in that area have been without rims for about a year, Chetumal streets has craters all over and is permanently a parking lot for old container trucks, this is surely not the best of times for Belama residents
Maddy, I may not put it that way but I agree with you. We have to stop this learned helplessness & show some community spirit. People it only takes one seed for a tree to grow, set an example to the rest of the city.
About the rims on the basketball courts, the thieves in Belize steal stuff that is nailed down & no one says a word.
Well my goodness, you would think they would have known the roof was going before it came to this point. Why the hell didn’t the representative in that area do something before now? It seems like these people go to work only to collect a paycheck without having any care for their position maddaR@$$!
That’s what am talking about Belize! quit waiting for things to be done! take action! there are a lot of suggestions, quit waiting around for somebody to come and help, in the meantime you whine and complain, maybe the cruise ship missionaries will help to build a new police station….. very sad…
