Tender association will do business with cruise lines
Tender owners who recently came together to form an association to ferry cruise tourists exclusively to the Fort Street Tourism Village are tonight putting final touches to the structure of the organization. News Five spoke with Prime Minister Dean Barrow late this evening who gave us an update on a teleconference with Carnival executives Ruben Rodriguez and Domenico Tringale in Miami. According to P.M. Barrow, the agreement reached on Friday in Miami to have one Belizean company, comprising all local tenders, do business directly with the cruise lines still stands. While that agreement remains in place settlement on revised tendering rates is also pending. The current rates, according to Carnival, are the highest of any ports its ships pay a call to. As for the two catamarans recently brought into the country by Norwegian Cruise Lines, Barrow suggested that they be purchased by the newfound tendering company. Negotiations would have to be made on the part of that company on an agreeable price if Norwegian is interested. The value of those catamarans was appraised at approximately seventy thousand U.S. dollars each.
Sounds like we are heading in the right direction, see that was not that hard was it? and I am sure that Mr. Barrows law firm will benefit somehow from the deal but that is ok somebody got to benefit for bring this together, not sure about the two catamarans though would be nice if carnival agrees to sell them, what would they do with them otherwise since they are not in the boat selling business they should sell them for cost would be hard to sell those to anyone else in Belize let’s hope the price of $70,000 US each was not manufactured just for tax evasion purposes on the custom duties it would cost to clear them, if the price changes dramatically someone could be going to jail.
Good to see these fellows work it out. I hope they didn’t fold & allow the scheming individual who tried to burn them to be the person in charge or they will get screwed again.
What are the catamarans really worth & was someone shamed into assessing its real value?.
so far so good..but i’m not sure the good part will last….hopefully belizeans can finally show they are able to work together for mutual benefit
I hope that Mike Singh is playing no role with this new company and that he is kept as far as possible from doing any business with this new company.
