Boss of Kraal Road, Raymond ‘Killa’ Gentle murdered

There are two murders to report tonight and both of them are leaving more unease because of who they are. The body of a missing twelve year old girl was found at about midday and just before news time tonight, the boss of Kraal Road was shot and killed. Raymond ‘Killa” Gentle, was overseeing the construction of a house at the corner of Kraal and Faber’s Road when as many as seven shots rang out. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to the gunshots. In the past, Gentle has kept a low profile and had shown promise at reforming his street life. In 2008, at the genesis of the grenade age in Belize City, Gentle was the sole figure who emerged to turn in a fragment grenade.  Gentle has also been working with the youths in his area in sporting activities rather than turning them to the streets. He was the captain of City Boys United Football team and he led them to victory in the Belize Bank Super League Football league in 2010. The team is also owned by Anthony “Boots” Martinez, his boss. Considered the minister’s right hand man, Gentle often accompanied him to several House meetings and took a place in the waving gallery.  But despite his intention to reform, it seems that some could not forget that his nickname had strong street credibility. But though he was known as Killa on the streets, when he dealt with the media he was gentle.  News Five spoke to him on several occasions about the football team as well as the previous occasions in which he was shot.  Here’s Gentle in his own words.

“One of my own friend deh gainst me without I even know. When I gone tek wah lee run 2002. I left Kraal Road pan Bike and pan my way back inna Kraal Road one ah my own friend dodge me fi kill me. And dah so I get shot 2002.”

Jose Sanchez
“And four years later, 2006?”

Raymond Gentle
“Same thing 2006. I feel like dah wah continuation from the 2002 shooting because dah wah thing weh mi di prolong and den I end up di be wah witness fi one ah my friend weh mi get shot down right side ah me. Three months time dah nothing. Yoh go dah prison, think about your lee offence weh yoh commit and come dah prison fah and if dah somebody weh into crime dehn wah find wah better way fi go and commit wah offence without get caught fi come back and do three months. So I feel like when dehn bring down pressure pan di youths like dat and send dehn dah jail dat wah develop wah more instinct inna dehn criminal mind like when dehn come out di crime rate deh pan wah different level. That fall pan di pressure weh di system bring down pan di youths dehn.”

There were other attempts on Killa’s life. A few days before Christmas in 2009, corner of Kraal Road and Haynes Street, a grenade exploded, killing fourteen year old Rudolph Flowers. It was believed that he was the intended victim and the incident was based on a rivalry between the Kraal Road and George Street gangs.

After the murder of his driver, Killa attempted to change his ways. Football continued to be a part of his life and in 2010, he reflected on the sport.

If you are going to change your life style it would be best to hand in the information you know about the other criminals since they will always feel that you have something on them and would eventually turn them in, so start handing them over guys let’s clean up Belize either way they will be coming for you.

It just goes to show that life is indeed based on “Karma” it catches up with all of us; though I will not intend to be or sound judgmental, I salute and give kudos to Raymond “Killa” Gentle for the every effort he made to change his life & past. However, the past is the past, but in this life it does not go away, but stay with all of us, and for “Killa” though his murder is wrong, it’s just as simple as what we do in life comes back to us at some point in time. May God bless his soul. R.I.P “Killa”

This cat finally used up his nine lives & I am dreading the bloodshed that is certain to follow. Who is going to run the weed business back there now. He is dead, his Papa is still in jail from that weed bust last year.

Boots, you need to call your boys in for a “Come to Jesus” meeting, this will get ugly & bloody your division further. The decent folks in your division do not deserve this. Please look at the archives; cross reference the names & look at the pattern of retaliation & hysterical blindness. It is time to be proactive.

  4. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

It has been proven on the mean streets of Belize City that one cannot be converted, or forgiven and let live. Unfortunately this man choice to be a Good Samaritan today was not spawned early enough in his life to do good for others, which could have spared his life longer, and those that he tried to help keep off the streets.
Make the right choice in life.

  5. Earl Grey says:

    WHEN WILL THIS NON-SENSE END…………………………WHEN???????????????????

  6. truth_B_Told says:

YOU KNOW WHAT HONESTLY I FEEL THAT THESE MURDERS ARE SIGNS OF THE POLICE BEING SCARED………… IN OTHER COUNTRIES, IF THE POLICE KNOWS THAT YOU ARE A WELL KNOWN FIGURE TO THE STREETS THEY EITHER SHOOT YOU OR JUST COME FOR YOU…………NOW BELIZE WHAT YOU ARE DOING I DONT KNOW BUT I HOPE YOU HAVE A PLAN BECAUSE US BELIZEAN AMERICANS WOULD LUV TO COME AND INVEST IN OUR HOME LAND BUT WITH ALL THE CRIME WHO WANTS TO MAKE A DECISION LIKE THAT SPECIALLY WITH THE CHANCE OF BEING KILLED….. IT’S A TREND THAT NEEDS TO BE STOPPED……..ASAP!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Curious says:

Every time a notorious figure dies the way he lived, we often hear on the news how much he was trying to change his life. Truth is, if these guys were serious about changing their lives, the first thing they should’ve done was to ‘fess up’ to all their deeds. ‘Man up’ and pay the fine. Help the Police close the books on all those UNSOLVED MURDERS you committed or sent one of your ‘boys’ to do. Then, PAY YOUR DEBT TO SOCIETY BY SERVING YOUR FULL SENTENCE at the so–called ‘John Woods Retirement Facility’, until the Powers that be come to their senses and actually construct the prison farm ‘Earl Grey” has been lobbying for.

  8. Michael Enriquez says:

iT IS SAD WHEN OUR BLACK BROTHERS ARE KILLING ONE ANOTHER OVER OLD BEEF. WE NEED TO STOP THIS MADNESS AS THERE WILL BE NO BLACK MALE LEFT IN OUR LITTLE BELIZE.

  10. CRNCN_CTZN says:

You live by the guy you will die by the gun. What many of those supposedly ex-gangster fail to realized is that what they had done in the pass will come back to haunt them. You may be trying to reform but you already sow the seeds so you will reap the friuts whether it be good or bad. Its a sad situation but we all need to make the right choice from the beginning and that will shape the future.

  11. CRNCN_CTZN says:

I meant you live by the gun you will die by the gun.

  12. Me says:

GOB AND ALL IN POWER YOU ALL NEED TO TIGHTEN UP AND CARE MORE FOR THE STREETS AND PEOPLE OF OUR COUNTRY AND DO BETTER TO MAKE OUR HOME SAFE FOR ALL!!!!!!!!! I WROTE THIS WITH PAIN IN MY HEART TO KNOW THAT OUR BLACK POEPLE ARE DYING OUT EACH DAY AND IT SEEMS AS IF NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO STOP IT!!!!!

  13. from abroad says:

IF SO MANY PEOPLE IN BELIZE WOULD THINK BEFORE THEY TALK SO NEGATIVE AGAIN EACH OTHER AND STOP ALL THE HATING FOR EACH OTHER MAY BE IT WOULD BE A START FROM ALL THIS MADNESS. NO MATTER HOW A PERSON LIVE THEIR LIFE IT IS NOT YOUR RIGHT TO JUDGE HOW THEY SHOULD DIE. PEOPLE CAN CHANGE .A LOT OF PEOPLE DOWN THERE IN BELIZE NEED TO FIND SOME GOD IN THEIR LIFE . MAY BE LIKE I ALWAYS SAY I HOPE THAT THE PLACE I ONCE CALL MY SWEET BELIZE CAN BE THE WAY I ONCE NEW IT. SAD

  18. The People Had Enough says:

THE NEW YEAR STARTS WITH A BANG!!!! PUN COMPLETELY INTENDED.

  19. The People Had Enough says:

Its the same thing that happened to one of the formers of the MS 13 Gangs; he was trying to reform, was teaching kids to stay out of gangs; he was invited to a gang members birthday party, he refused and a couple days later they killed him.

When will these losers learn that when you join a gang there is only loyalty until you become obsolete; the same gang he was the boss of killed him because they saw him as a threat to them, i suppose.

  20. anonymous says:

i agree wit “truth be told” in a place lik brazil none of this nonsense can occur…police are scared n d ones that can act is hustlin on the streets instead of puttin a stop to all this nonsense! They are as bad as the ones committin the murder cause they know bt cover up for $$$….d government will hav to act…bt then again politicians are jus as bad and the ppl don’t help the ppl. This is so sad…

  21. BELIZEAN AWAY FROM HOME says:

PRAYERS ARE WITH THE FAMILY OF THIS YOUNG MAN, I PRAY THAT THE LORD WILL CHANGE THE HEART OF ALL THOSE PEOPLE THAT ARE FIGHTING AND KILLING. BELIZEAN WAS HAPPY TO COME HOME ONCE UPON A TIME, BUT IT IS SCARY NOW BECAUSE THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO TRUST ANYONE AND WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE PEOPLE YOU SEE ON THE STREET. THEY WOULD LIKE TO BRING FRIENDS TO VISIT BUT WANT THEM TO BE FREE AND NOT BE AFRAID IN A SMALL COUNTRY LIKE BELIZE. MY HOME WAS BEAUTIFL BEFORE I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE BEAUTY ONCE AGAIN

  22. OriginalWoman says:

I THINK THE FACT THAT HE CHANGED, IS A DEFINITELY GOOD THING. HE SPENT HIS LAST

YEARS DOING GOOD FOR THE YOUTH IN BZ, TRYING TO PREVENT THEM FROM THE SAME

MEAN STREETS OF BELIZE THAT HE HIMSELF WAS A BIG PART OF. MY CONDOLENCES TO

    HIS FAMILY & FRIENDS.

  23. fromafar says:

  25. Elgin Martinez says:

I care less what this young man did in the past..The battom line is that the violence needs to stop.Another Belizean brother is gone for what reason i don’t know.Only God can bring our people together.

  26. vigilante justice 316 says:

Karma is a $itch and you always have to pay the piper one way or another. The faster people learn this, then these killings with slow down and Belize can go back to being a safe place for everyone. If you live by gun/machete you will die by gun/machete so please parents… teach your children this lesson early so you don’t have to bury them prematurely.

  27. his family says:

My uncle Raymond was a wonderful person. like all creatures under the Lords hand he was not perfect and thus made mistakes in his life. We all suffer with the same imperfections and should not judge one of GOD’s creatues by his misgivings but instead reflect that in all things and people their is bad and good. I saw the good. Thank you uncle Raymond

  28. Bruce says:

  31. G.Gentle says:

My condolences to the family! When one person dies in our little country Belize, it is far outreaching. It affects so many people in so many ways. We live in an unforgiving country and that is sad. We have lost the faith in God and ourselves that we can forgive and move on. Raymond was not a perfect person, but someone please tell me WHO IS SQUEAKY CLEAN? WHO OUT THERE HAS NOT SIN? Our leaders need to do their part and MAN UP. Our church leaders need to MAN UP. and our Parents need to MAN UP. WE HAVE LOST ALL HOPE . THE ONLY ANSWER NOW IS GOD! He sees and knows and make the only Judgement. R.I.P Uncle Ray. You don’t have to face the bs we have to face daily. Till we meet again. Peace
