Parents of murdered girl questioned twice by cops

Janessa Jones

Twelve year old Janessa Jones was the first minor to be murdered this year, and since her body was retrieved from the sea last Wednesday, police investigations have not resulted in any arrests. The probe continues and so far Janessa’s mother and stepfather have twice been detained for questioning and released. Arlene Bainton, reported her daughter missing on Tuesday and gave conflicting reports. In one instance, she said that the child was angry and threw a tantrum at home before she disappeared. The other version is that Janessa was sent, by bus, to Belize City at around four-thirty on Monday evening “on a mission.” When Janessa’s body was found, it was transported to the K.H.M.H. morgue but due to the level of decomposition, it was taken to a site on the Burrell Boom/Hattieville Road for a postmortem and immediate burial. Dr. Hugh Sanchez found that Janessa was bashed in the head multiple times and it is believed that her body was dumped near the Haulover Creek and drifted to the area behind Bayview Oasis where it was found.

Where are the other children & why is no one questioning them? As a youngster, my siblings, neighbors & I walked home from school together & we were all expected to look out for each other. In High School if we had to go to the library, my mother knew where we were & there was hell to pay if we got caught doing something stupid. Who will pay for this child’s death & can we whip the mother’s behind until she tells the truth.

A 12 year old throwing a temper tantrum… why? Did she take off or went on a mission? What was said that turned a slap into a deadly beating?. This child didn’t get angry, beat herself in the head & commit suicide. Talk to the neighbors.

if a proper post mortem was carried out we would be able to get closer to resolving this murder. science dont lie, all over the world people are convicted on forensic evidence . Only in Belize we dump the body and hope to BEAT a confession out of the suspects

I don’t believe the mother killed this child, she need to take lessons in good parenting, but she might just fail that as well. The stepfather, or a neighbor, is very possible. The poor girl was probably raped before her killer bashed her skull in.
Typically Belizean style to bury decomposing bodies on site, the visual showed that her head was bashed in and that was it, no internal investigation was done on this girl, no DNA swapped and saved in a forensic lab. How can they catch the rapist/killer in this situation?

  4. So Disappointed says:

This mother is lying detain her again until she crack, she knows exactly what happened to her daughter, check the stepfather again. Belize women love to cover up for their men just so they can keep a man.

This does NOT make sense, the girl’s body is at the morgue – that is where the postmortem should take place – who authorised the removal of the body from the morgue to Burrell Boom/Hattieville Road, – and why?

Something (a lot of things) is/are not right

yap! this story is very fishy but u know someting the people responsible to do the investigation
are lazy to do their jobs. The body was rotten so to hell with that just bury it and things will be forgotten. Mother tell the truth what happen to your data, if u know and has a heart u wont be able to sleep in peace. But if you really don’t know then i sympatize with you.

  7. macal rivera says:

Once stepfathers involved you bet the woman is covering up for him.
The mother and the stepfather knows what happen.

  9. cg says:

word is the mother knows exactly where she sent her daughter and who might have killed her. that child was killed over her mother’s bad deeds..hopefully the whole truth comes out…but if she has a lack of conscience, no justice will be served

what I don’t understand, is how the child was missing on Monday evening, and by Wednesday, her body was severly decomposed. that just doesn’t add up.

  13. El Tataduende says:

Let’s forget about human rights! That is the reason why this country and many more around the world have criminals who do these acts and get away!

Let’s forget about human rights and deal with these criminals with the laws of the bush! EYE FOR AN EYE, TOOTH FOR A TOOTH!

YOU’LL SEE HOW THINGS FIX UP IN MY BEAUTIFUL BELIZE!
