6 naturalized Belizeans busted for illegal gun and ammunition
Police hauled in six persons on Thursday morning to face charges for firearm and ammunition offences. They are naturalized Belizeans, Alba, Marvin and Esdras Lopez, Mexican national Mario Augustine, Honduran national Jessika Lopez, and a seventeen year old minor. The group was arrested at Marvin’s house on the Western Highway following a police search at around eight-thirty a.m.
Inside the master bedroom, cops found a point two millimeter revolver with twenty-nine live rounds and a nine millimeter pistol with thirty-four rounds of ammunition. No one could produce documents for the weapons so they were all escorted to the Queen Street police Station. In court today, all six were charged with two counts each of Keeping Unlicensed Firearm and Keeping Unlicensed Ammunition.
Esdras and Jessika were additionally charged for Keeping a Prohibited Firearm for a homemade handgun that was found at their house on Raccoon Street. The group pleaded not guilty to all charges and has been remanded until their next court date on March seventeenth.
Were the police there because someone in either of these homes had gang ties or suspects in another crime? Before we attack the new gun laws, we need to know why they were there & if these people are in some kind of cash & carry business why did they not apply for a permit. I won’t even address the home made weapon. Let Dickie & Sylvester explain that one.
There we go again, these people run from their crime ridden countries and bring their criminal behavior to Belize. Revoke their citizenship and send them back home. No one is safe as long as these people are running around with guns. Belize needs stiffer laws.
“6 naturalized Belizeans busted for illegal gun and ammunition” WOW!!! All naturalized.
When will this STUPID Government STOP giving it`s a**** to foreigners?
Barrow…please stop selling my country, please sir.
Maybe we need to start doing as the US and the UK and deporting these people to their homes. We have our own home grown criminals, and our judiciary cannot cope. Strip them of the naturalisation and send them to their respective homes. Post their names and photographs at every port to make sure they don’t come back.
THIS GOES TO SHOW THAT IT IS NOT ONLY US (BORN BELIZEANS) WHO ARE COMMITTING CRIMES. I THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE A LAW WHICH SAYS THAT NATURALIZED BELIZEANS SHOULD HAVE THEIR CITIZENSHIP REVOKED AND THAT THEY BE DEPORTED IF FOUND GUILTY FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING OFFENCES, HOMICIDE OFFENCES AND GUN RELATED OFFENCES.
@ el alcalde i bet u dat if u did research u will find out dat ur people da descendants of guatemalans, sal vador or 1 a deh place. Otherwise i agree with Just-Is comment and di one by Al. But always be careful wen u bun fire pan deh spanish who come from outside Belize because some a fi we natural born Belizeans weh contribute wa lot to Belize have what some people like “alien” blood.
I live here in. U S , do just like here. U get caught. They sentence them after the term, revoke the citizenship and get the !………@# out of here
BIRDS OF A FEATHER………………………….
Send them back to their country; we have our own problems. Agreed with Just-Is, found guilty of ANY crime send their @$$*$ back home, let them be a problem there, we need to look out for our own people first.
Just-Is wrapped it up in a coconut shell. Other country’s would deport us for these same things why should we keep their citizens here if they act up. Estrada Lopez looks like a killing rapist/drug dealer, please send him back home to his country, we already have our own criminals here we don’t need anymore. Mario the drunken rapist and Alba the undercover mobster need to go to. Throw in Jessika too for, guilt by association.
Off topic: have anyone notices the Google Ads recommended site based on the key words in this article, lol. Lifetek Body Armour; so sad its funny.
“Estrada Lopez looks like a killing rapist/drug dealer”
Wow, looks guilty, so is guilty………
@Grant….to me criminals are like ppl with downsyndrome(N.O. T), no matter their nationality they all have that same look on their face. out of two houses busted not one license between them. maybe the dog ate it. eh? When ur a natralized citizen in any country, u should knw to dot ur “i” and cross ur “t”‘s . but if ur so concerned grant, not to worry, Dickie knws how to put criminals back on our streets and these types of charges never stick thanks to good ol dickie.
I am sorry for some of these idiots who read a headline and run with it. The problem is not the naturalized Belizeans, it is the violence that people feel is out of countrol and that they need to police and protect themselves from. In a way, if I were in Belize I might do have done the same as they did, or like the lecturer at UB did, and get a bulletproof vest. When even the Prime Minister is scared for his life, and attorneys and the rich are being killed, then poor people are as disposable as kleenex.
A bunch of you guys cannot see reality, because of politics or because you do not even live in Belize. As a naturalized US citizen, I take offence to the generalization that you all are getting into. What happened to Belize being a melting pot and all that stuff, or sorry you only say that to tourists and to the locals who are trying to make a life there, you show the real racism, because that is what it is.
I also blame the media, because there immigration status should have nothing to do with criminal behaviour, the same way there are jackasses who were born in Belize, and I know a few in high places. People must be judged on the merit of their behaviour and nothing else. I guess the same small minds are still the ones with internet and the time to waste.
juan, u are an idiot. First thing you need to do for yourself is to read the Amendments to the Constitution of the United States. Please and then read the Immigration Act of the US. After you have educated yourself then you may post things on the internet, for you my dear sir are an ignoramus. Citizenship cannot be revoked, Permanent Residence and Visas can be revoked, but as a citizen one is as invested in the nation as someone who was born there, except for one thing, exclusion from being elected as President of such nation.
Little boy, please read and learn, and then speak.
Is a background check even done before these people get citizenship?
