Western Highway accident kills villager on his way home
A tour guide was killed on Monday night when a sports car he was driving overturned on the Western Highway. Thirty-three year old Damacio Reyes was heading toward his home in Franks Eddy Village, when he lost control of the vehicle. Because the impact caused severe injuries, Reyes died almost instantly. Police Press Officer, Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood says the victim was transported to the Western Regional Hospital but nothing could be done to save him.
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer
“Sometime after eleven, eleven-thirty thereabout, Belmopan police responded to a road traffic accident between miles thirty-nine and thirty-eight, travelling from the direction of Belmopan towards Franks Eddy village where they saw a green four door car on the left hand side of the highway overturned. Beside was the lifeless body of Damacio Reyes, thirty-three year old tour guide. Investigations revealed that Mr. Reyes was driving his car along the highway where upon reaching that location, he lost control of the motor vehicle and it overturned. Hence, he received head and body injuries and died on the spot.”

“And the vehicle, totaled?”
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood
“Well I cannot say to what extent the vehicle was damaged. The important thing is that he received head and body injuries and there was nothing that the officers who arrived on the scene could have done for him.”
If the government would ease up on the import duties Belize will stop being America’s Junk Yard because people will be able to buy better vehicles that are safer on the road. Accidents would reduce and when there are accidents deaths and injuries would decline.
what kind of car was he driving ?
belizeans like driving fast ,dont like wearing their seat belts which is why he flew out the vehicle and most vehicles in belize have smooth tires look like onion skin, but let see where on the western road not highway bcuz its far from being a highway cud u be going so fast as to killing urself nowhere that i know of so i guess he was just reckless maybe he was hurrying home bcuz of j.. g….
what the hell is this guy trying to say ” The IMPORTANT thing is that he received head and body injuries and there was nothing that the officers who arrived on the scene could have done for him.”
So when did it became important that he needed to hit his head
@Joe I was wondering the same thing what is he talking about “The IMPORTANT thing is that he received head and body injuries and there was nothing that the officers who arrived on the scene could have done for him”
Belizean need to stop buy junk car from Co-Part….
CEO, I concur.
Seat belts SAVE LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with what Joe says. How can someone be that dumb tp pass a comment like that.Question posed didnt have anything to do about his injuries but about the vehicle.I must say this happens only in Belize .Sad but true.
sorry to say this, but this is some funny stuff. The important thing is, he died. even the press officer is stupid. THATS WHY ALL CARS HAVE SEAT BELTS. BELIZE SHOULD MAKE IT INTO LAW, SO THAT SEAT BELTS CAN BE USE ALL THE TIME IT WORKS.
I concurr with all above…lower import duties on new vehicles…especially the ones with no accident records….it should be: THE NEWER THE VEHICLE, THE LESS DUTY. Will tranlsate to: LESS ACCIDENTS ON THE STREETS DUE TO FAULTY VEHICLES.
Sgt. Fitzroy Yearwood what the hell you mean by “The important thing is that he received head and body injuries and there was nothing that the officers who arrived on the scene could have done for him.” can some one slap him to get some sense in him he is the one who needs head what ever…can he express him self better…Eny how but yes we do need to emphasize on using seat belts its time for the belizean people to put their feet on earth and start taking precautionary measures and value life…and traffic officer need to be more strict on drivers…sad he lost his life let this be an example for other drivers… speeding kills… sad because i new this person, rest in peace Damacio dear friend…
