Car dealer’s sale had tampered ID and no record of duties paid

In the other case, two businessmen faced similar charges for the sale of a vehicle without the proper procedures. Muhammad Hamze, a car dealer of Blue Marlin Boulevard, had to answer to two offences: Recklessly Dealing with Uncustommed Goods and Reckless Possession of a Vehicle for which the identification number was tampered With. That’s because on June third he allegedly sold a White Mitsubishi Nativa to Jian Jiang, a businessman, without paying custom duties.

Jian is charged for Acquiring Possession of an Uncustommed Vehicle. They both pleaded not guilty and Hamze’s attorney, Edwin Flowers, expressed dissatisfaction that the Custom’s Department had only served his client with a single charge and surprised him with a second one in court this morning. Both men are to return to court on February fourteenth and Hamze is expected to go to trial in March. The vehicle is worth forty-nine thousand, six hundred and ninety-five dollars and the Comptroller is seeking a penalty triple its value. That would cost the businessmen one hundred and forty-nine thousand and eighty-five dollars.
Hmmm. Isn’t the customer a victim of a crooked car dealer here? Why is he charged at all? This doesn’t sound like justice.
Did the crooked car dealer have corrupt help getting the vehicle registered here?

Why mess wid the Chiny? If he is buying a vehicle from a registered dealer he should not have to go through any of this except if he can be proven to be a partner in crime. The dealer should answer to all these charges and made to pay.
