Bakers welcome idea of cheaper butane

Late this evening, The Belize Bakers’ Association issued a release proclaiming its support for BNE’s supply of butane at cheaper prices. According to the association, they are already bracing for increased production costs due to rising prices for wheat on the world market. The less expensive butane is therefore a welcomed initiative. In its release, the association also expressed great concern over the countrywide shutdown that is being threatened by the Liquid Petroleum Gas Importers. According to the bakers, they experienced tough financial times in 2010 due to high butane prices.

Silly question today, if I am offered the same product for a lot less, of course I am going to take it. Not only the bakers experienced tough financial times in 2010, so did the rest of the country (unless of course you are a politician)

  2. Prophet says:

I agree with cheaper butane but at the limited quantities being produced everyone wants to be at the advantage. Who will end up recieving the benefit is the question? Should business get the cheaper price and still charge their same same selling price? End consumers should have all this benefit is my opinion. I don’t think business will reduce their price. Government has a task to ensure that we the residents get the cheaper price being that it is limited quantities. Another question is if this gas is of quality standards and what effect it will have on our appliances. Carefull we are not faced with buying new appliance because of not properly testing the product.

Like prophet, I believe the cheaper gas should go to consumers and not bakers. There is a limited supply so wht should they getit? People need ease with cost of living and I am not sure if bakers will reduce proces accordingly.

  5. Reader says:

I don’t think the Bakers Association was saying that gas should ONLY go to them…their release was support for lower butane costs in general.
