Publics Supermarket burglarized

One of two suspected burglars who broke into Publics Supermarket in the early hours of Sunday morning is tonight in police custody after being identified on the store’s surveillance footage.  The men gained entry into the building, located at the corners of Nargusta Street and Central American Boulevard, by prying open a door on the second floor.  Once inside, the thieves proceeded to the main office where they stole approximately seven thousand, five hundred dollars in petty cash.  When they showed up to work several hours later, employees were shocked that the door to the main office was ajar. They then alerted store manager Wendy Rodriguez.

“I received a call at eight o’clock in the morning, on Sunday morning by the security and the person that was opening the store that they had entered the building and they noticed that the door of the office was opened by force.  And I proceeded to come down and when I reached here the police were already here and I proceeded to review the cameras that we have in the building and outside.  And all our cameras are night vision so we caught the culprits on camera and because of that the police already have one of the suspects in custody.”

“Can you tell us more or less if any items were stolen, cash or any of the goods that are on shelf?”

“Well apparently the people that were in the store came in for one thing and that was looking for money and they proceeded to go inside the office where we keep just the cash that we use to open everyday, cashier, the cash register.  So they did not really take anything that much.  They didn’t get much money out of the building and they didn’t take any goods so far as I’ve noticed.”

“Is this the first time an incident such as this has happened since establishing the store here?”

“Yes it’s the first time. It’s the first time.”

“I noticed you guys are pretty much secured in terms of burglar bars around the building.  Where was the point of entrance into Publics on Sunday morning?”

“The point of entrance was right in front of the building above us.  There’s a door that goes to the warehouse upstairs.  It’s a metal door and they proceeded to enter through that door which is the corner to our right.  They climbed, apparently, one of the old fences that is on the side and they went into the balcony and they opened, forced open the door.”
