Other money changer still hospitalized after shooting

Meanwhile, there’s an update to another assault on a money changer who was shot at his house in the same village of San Joaquin.  Thirty-four year old Jaime Headman was at his house when two men reportedly drove up in a red pickup truck and called out for him last week Sunday night.  His wife, Elva, notified her husband that he was being sought and shortly after she heard the shots that left her husband critically wounded.  Officer Commanding the Corozal Police Station, Superintendent Miguel Guzman, says while they have discovered the vehicle, their leads have somewhat faded.

“Police conducted a search in the Patchakan area where they found a vehicle completely destroyed by fire—apparently intentional. Nothing could have been recovered from the vehicle; all the vehicle identification number, license plate—everything was obliterated from the vehicle. And the vehicle was completely destroyed by fire. But indications are that this was the said red vehicle that was involved in the shooting.”

“Now you said that police were looking for a Mexican and a Belizean who you all believe they were acting together.”

“Yes, so far we have been unable to locate the Mexican, we are still in the process of trying to establish his true identity and certainly we’ll be working with our Mexican counterparts to see how far we can get with our investigation.”

“What about the Belizean suspect?”

“Yes, we have located the Belizean suspect but apparently it is an error. The Belizean who was believed to have been involved was seen in a similar vehicle, but so far we have located that vehicle and his story as to how he was inside this vehicle and how he came about with this vehicle and his story adds up. So there was nothing dishonest on him, so he has been cleared.”

“But the information that was passed on to us was that one of the men distracted the money changer, Mister Headman, while the other man shot him.”

“Yes that is correct that is the information that was passed on.”

“So you are still saying that there were two suspects but this Belizean who you thought was a part…”

“Was not a part. Yes was not a part of the incident.”

“So now you are saying that one of the suspects is still a Mexican and who uis the other suspect then?”

“That is what we are trying to establish as we speak.”

“Could it have been two Mexicans then working together?”

Via Phone: Supt. Miguel Guzman

“That is possible. Yes that is possible.  If Mister Headman is able to survive the injuries and he would be in a position to help us with the investigation. His testimony would be crucial to solve this case.”
