SATIIM will do everything possible to stop oil drilling
Prime Minister Dean Barrow said last week that “drill we will” in respect of oil exploration in the Sarstoon Temash National Park. Greg Ch’oc, the man who would be the thirteenth senator and representative of the N.G.O. community, was not present when the P.M. made it clear that Capital Energy has the go ahead to drill in protected areas, land contested by Choc to be ancestral homes of the Maya. But according to Ch’oc, any drilling is illegal, and SATIIM will fight it every step of the way.
Greg Ch’oc, Executive Director, SATIIM
“I sent out a press release this morning and we have said that we will challenge any illegal action to preserve the rule of law in this country. Lawyers have different interpretations of judgment. A case in point is the Conejo/Santa Cruz case. Government has a different interpretation; the Maya Leadership has a different interpretation and so is many judgment of the court. So if there is disagreement court in the judgment, then obviously the Court will need to adjudicate and interpret what it meant by what it said in the judgment. Our position is that it does not give the green light for any drilling or exploitation to occur.”
Jules Vasquez, Channel 7
“So then how will you all materially resist it? Time is going—six months, August.”
Greg Ch’oc
“Well as I have said, we are going to challenge any decision or action by government that we deem is illegal in the court of law. And that will perhaps precipitate other actions that we do not rule out. But if it comes to defending the democratic ideals, the rule of law, that is so fundamental to this country then I think it shouldn’t be me but all Belizeans should take that challenge.”
We caught up with Ch’oc as he exited the court where Belizeans for Justice was filing suit against the government in respect of the thirteenth senator.
rise up belizeans rise up we need to march on this useless gov. that is sicking our country that is raping and killing our way of life lets get rid of this scurge of a gov. that is called udp useless impotent corrupt and just plain out dumb gov. resign barrow resignnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
To quote the Jamacian Pop Philosopher, Robert Marley:-
GET UP STAND UP…………..STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS.
GET UP STAND UP …………………DON’T GIVE UP THE FIGHT.
THAT IS …..THE FIGHT FOR A FUTURE AND PRESERVATION OF GOD’S GIFT TO US….BELIZE.
its about time all Belizeans stand for their rights, the govt. of past and present is slowing by slowing selling, leasing every square inch of Belize. Give 10 years, there won’t even be a park in this country.
I happen to be on the other side or align with Barrow not because I like him, but because we do not have jobs in Toledo. At some point, we are going to lose our natural resources and in fact we are losing it to foreign investors. Its them that have provided jobs in Toledo and Placencia, not the PUP or UDP. I prefer to see an oil company invest and bring jobs. What will we do with the hundreds of unemployed Toledo graduates. Greg Choc should show his house to the media. Man di live large da PG. He is in this for money too. Man di work for SATIIM, getting big bucks and funding from abroad. The media should look at Choc’s personal and financial gain. You think Choc go to Belize for free or pay his own way. Take a close look at him. If drilling starts, there will be no money coming his way or his food source will be cut. ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY BELIZEANS. GREED!!! SHARE THE BACON GREG, GIVE US A BREAK. ALLOW DRILLING!!!
maybe greg choc dah compa with the octopus??
I KNEW ALL ALONG THIS MAN HAS AND AGENDA BEHIND ALL HE DI DO, THAT SUCKER
