Family of four, including 2 minors, busted on Drug Trafficking charge
A family of four was hauled to the Magistrate’s Court today to face drug trafficking charges. What’s disturbing is that two of the persons charged are a twelve year old girl and her thirteen year old brother. They were detained along with their mother, thirty-two year old Mirna Chi and older brother, nineteen year old Alden Coleman. The only silver lining is that the kids didn’t have to be escorted to court on the prison bus, but were taken in by family members after being released on police bail.
All four appeared before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer and pleaded not guilty to drug trafficking while Coleman pleaded guilty to possession simplicita for five ounces of cannabis that was allegedly found at their home. But the Director of Public Prosecutions rejected the plea, which means that the court will proceed with the charge of Drug Trafficking against all four family members. The minors were granted bail of three thousand dollars each, which was secured by their father. Meanwhile Chi and Coleman were released on bail of six thousand dollars. The drugs were found in two Ziploc bags hidden under Chi’s bed during a police search at five o’clock this morning.
