Bowen & Bowen employee, Albert Maskall, charged for death of 5 year old school girl
A driver for Bowen and Bowen in the Cayo District is out on bail of eight thousand dollars after he was charged in the Belmopan Court with Causing Death by Careless Conduct. Twenty-nine year old Albert Maskall is accused of knocking down five year-old Sonia Diaz on Tuesday afternoon in the San Martin area of Belmopan. At the time of the incident, Maskall was reversing a Crystal Water truck to meet a customer. Magistrate Adolph Lucas Junior adjourned the matter until April twenty sixth. Sonia Diaz was an infant one student at Kuxlin Ha Government School in Belmopan.
It so sad they had a lost. but where were the parents of this little girl? why wasnt someone under the supervision to take her to school. ill be honest i would not blame the drivers for it is very difficult when kids are around vehicles and you knock them down.
It was very upsetting seeing this child died because of carelessness of her parents. a child goes back to school at one not after one.
Blame not only the drivers but the parents who are careless. you dont leave a child on the streets alone.!
This Story is sad. Really and Truly i don’t know who is in the wrong.. I do not want to judge the driver nor this little girl.
And you’re right Cindy, a 5 year old should be accompanied by her parents to take her to school.. That’s what parents usually do.
sorry to say this Cindy but ur so ignorant. i know this family and if there is one thing i am sure of it that these parents take care of their kids. better not comment if u don’t know the whole story behind it. it’s true u can’t blame the driver but then again, the truck has mirrors and the little girl was on the side of the road opposite to the side he was driving on, think, could he be so blind as not to see someone on a bike on the opposite side of the road???????
Driver and parents are to blame for this. The parents should have at least been watching the child walk to school but I have seen the way some of those Crystal truck drivers drive. Some are very reckless. The driver knows he was in a school zone so parent or not, he should have been more careful. This is an issue because the child is 5 yrs old. I have a 5 yr old at home and she is very smart. Smart enough to walk down the street without my complete attention. Of course I still watch her, but some parents are more trusting than others. More than the parents, the driver is to be blamed for not paying more attention.
A FIVE YEAR OLD CHILD SHOULD NOT BE IN THE STREET ALONE……………PERIOD.
When the father was being interviewed by Channel 7 he said ” that when he got the news he was at home”. What the hell was his a&# doing at home knowing that his 5 year old child is off to school without any supervision what so ever????? Don’t want to blame anyone because this is just a really sad tragic accident, but the parents/guardian should have been more responsible.
