Police looking for drivers of 2 vehicles with contraband items
Police are looking for the drivers of two vehicles that were found to be carrying a stash of contraband liquor. The vehicles were intercepted with Heineken, black label and other liquors, south of Orange Walk Town. Shots were fired to stop the rented vehicles in the early morning bust, but the drivers still managed to flee. It is speculated that the liquor was coming from the Commercial Free Zone and was destined for La Isla Bonita.
Now then. The vans were hired to run the contraband, and the rental Company is going to face prosecution? I wonder why? Could it be that the person who ordered and paid for the vans and contraband on San Pedro is UDP, so the investigation has been stopped before it can start?
I bet that if and when they find the drivers, that they are the ones who end up in court, and by some miracle, will not only meet bail, despite how high it might be set, but will walk free, as the case file will go missing/insufficient evidence etc. (The usual excuses for a cover up). And what’s the betting that the evidence mysteriously disappears from a locked and guarded room, only to end up in the homes of the rich & favoured?
Why don’t Customs & Police carry out raids in San Pedro to find more contraband? Try starting from the top, and working their way down, and the Police could at least try and find out who funded this, and how long it’s been going on. But, as ever, this will get buried under the carpet. Money will be passed around to buy peoples silence. Belizeans will suffer too, as while people drink contraband, local producers suffer losses in sales, and eventually will have to start laying people off to cut costs! But that’s OK, the ‘First Belizeans’ will get their contraband and party on!!!!!
Oh, and how about an investigation over how this contraband made it through Immigration & Customs from the Free Zone in the first place???
My bad, Customs won’t do that, as they got their share already.
LOOKS LIKE BUSINESS AS USUAL TO ME…………
sounds like dis business gaan bad mek dem had to raid di van…hmmmmmm.. corruption agen
show pictures of the vehicles so the public can assist in identifying who the vehicles are for.
Customs like to !@*** people but they have one especially that does it good !!!!! He know who he is!!!! LOL
So, where’s the party going to be at? Eastern Division HQ or Customs Department? No one believes the authorities are going to destroy all that beer and whiskey!
