Polls show many viewers believe vendors should be compensated
Mahogany Street vendors are being asked to move from their current location because it is smack where the main transmission line for electricity runs. On Wednesday we asked the question of whether the viewers thought that the vendors should be compensated for losses to be incurred in their relocation. The polls went sixty-six percent in favor of compensation and thirty-four percent against. A sample of the reaction says that “moving expenses should be covered if they are being forced to relocate.” A contrary view, however, is that the vendors squatted illegally and that the culprit is CITCO since it charged them for operating businesses in the area.
