Friend of shooting victim speaks about incident

Earlier we told you about the latest murder in the old capital, but on Tuesday night a mother of four survived a shooting at her home in Hattieville.  Thirty-seven year old Jacqueline Rhaburn was sitting on her verandah at the corner Tiger Richards Street and Foster Drive shortly before ten when she was shot in the back and left leg.  A friend of the victim, who preferred to conceal her identity, told News Five what she knew of the shooting.

Voice of: Friend of Shooting Victim

“A young man come into the yard and ask if they noh know who sell weed. And they said they don’t know or you could check up the street. And the young man went up the street and when he come back, he stood like ten feet away from them and like he just bust off the shot and it catches her, but she didn’t quite recognize that she was hit until he was all gone. Then she recognized that she got hit and they took her to the police station and they took her down to the hospital in Belize City.”

Marion Ali

“So this guy just came, ask for somebody, she didn’t know and he turned back and shot her for it?”

Voice of: Friend of Shooting Victim

“Yeah. Nobody knows him. We don’t quite know who he was looking for. He just come and asked for someone and we don’t quite know who he was looking for.”

Marion Ali

“How is she doing?”

Voice of: Friend of Shooting Victim

“She is doing quite well right now. She is just resting cause she didn’t sleep last night is she is talking a rest.”

Marion Ali

“And the bullet? Did it penetrate her flesh?”

Voice of: Friend of Shooting Victim

“Yeah it is still in her. They’ve given her like a month or two to recover.”

Police have no suspects.

And I thought weed only made a brother hungry. If this story is accurate, there is a rabid animal out there ready to meet his maker. If not getting high triggers murderous behavior, put his ares to sleep.

This story doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. The young man spoke to whoever was in the yard and yet the police still don’t have a suspect. With that said why did the police took this young lady to the police station prior to taking her to the hospital? Is questioning someone more important than saving their life?

  3. MADDYVANDIJK/DEREALIST says:

Obviously the animal went looking for a person at that house to kill that day/night. Where was there at?
What really pisses me off mostly with this story is that the woman claimed she knew who and where to buy illegal weed in her neighbourhood by sending her shooter up the street to buy weed.
You want to keep your neighbourhood clean and decent then call the police for those selling the weed and those wanting to buy. Hopefully your gunshot have thought you a lesson.

This just goes to show you how our jewel Belize is getting. This young lady could have lost her life innocently to voilence, she was sitting on her verandah minding her own business with her boyfriend, this monster came into their yard and ak about weed man she was not even the one that answer. Guess that that monster just got shoot happy and start shooting like crazy, no one could identify him he was all dress in black and had a hood on his head, there were others in her neighbour yard and no one can identify him cause the area was so dark. The electricity company needs to do their work and fix all the lights that are out in the village she live in the heart of the village, now you want to tell me you are not even safe in your own yard, what would have happen if her two kids were out on the verandah with. I am so happy that she didn’t loose her life. Our little village is getting so corrupt these days.
