Prime Minister ends debate with last minute whipping of Opposition

But Shyne’s father, the prime minister, was in the House of Representatives on Thursday and Friday for the 2011-2012 budget debate. Much of what was debated was not the expenses and projects for the upcoming financial year. Instead, the super majority on the government side spoke at length about ten years of the past P.U.P. administration while the opposition berated the government for not keeping up with its commitments to Belizeans. Marcel Cardona, Orange Walk East Area Representative, delivered an impassionate and historic speech about how his constituents were left out in the cold. The debate was wrapped up late Friday evening by the Prime Minister. He finished his speech with a quip in which he rebuked Former Prime Minister Said Musa as a liar and metaphorically beheaded the Leader of the Opposition.

“He reminds me of the legend of the Christian martyr. I know my friend—he was a Catholic Martyr, so perhaps my friend, the Minister of Education, won’t be familiar with him. Well assuredly, the Leader of the Opposition is no saint. But politically, he is certainly a decapitated corpse walking around, carrying his own head in his hands. The member for Fort George should always employ a strategic silence when it comes to D.F.C.—in other words, he should keep his lying mouth shut. Then for the member to go on about social security is simply another demonstration of his scabrous tough skin. It was the scandal over the pillage of S.S.B., the uncollateralized millions in so called loans to the Godfeys and so on that produced the start of the revolution that almost turned violent in sweeping them from power. Now S.S.B. is properly run and the investment in Telemedia is to earn the dividends that can help ensure a return to viability. Stop bringing your guilt transfer, stop bringing your sin transfer to this house Mister Member for Fort George. In going on about crime and violence, which we admittedly don’t yet have under control, but which no other government has worked harder to stem, the recidivist member for Fort George just could not help returning to his lying ways. And this time it was really a whopper. He said there was three hundred and twenty-six murders last year when the number was a hundred and twenty-nine. The man actually lies on the dead. And he talks about us inflating budget figures, he forgets that it was that P.U.P./Said Musa/Ralph Fonseca Budget that caused the I.M.F. to officially declare that it was a bogus budget in which the administration had deliberately overestimated revenue and deliberately underestimated expenditure.”

Barrow is a shame and disgrace to the human race! the sight of him makes me wat to puke! I cannot belive that the Belizean people voted this idiot in. I cringe when I realise that he represents Belize internationally. I hope that one day soon he is out for good!

I agree with you Secretive critic. UDP is the lesser of two evils. If the PUP had won again who know where Belize would’ve been right now. The country would’ve probably declared bankruptcy as the Corrupt PUP get richer and fatter. SO while some people up here clearly have something against the UDP, the fact of the matter is they are still doing a far better job than the last government. But many people up here just give ignorant tirades without really knowing or understanding what is really happening. And for you all that think Marcel Cardona actually did a good thing are the same people that buy into the political propaganda bc he is the one that neglected his own constituents, then want to blame government. There is a reason he did not win to represent , and its bc his own people didn’t want him there. All he is doing is trying to garner support for when he runs as an independent candidate. You all are so easily influenced and don’t see the deeper reason he did what he did. Come on he still gets Stipends and benefits from being in his position. And trust me he ain’t giving that up for any of his constituents.
Where were Mark and Cordel? Don’t the people of Albert and Lake Independence deserve representation in the House during this critical debate? They have become lame ducks as well.
Hon.Dean Borrow is the best prime mister he has been a good person and also gives good speeches when he visited our high school in Santa Elena and i applaud him for that good speech and it is not good to talk bad of your prime minister you don’t now was cow head musa did and how Hon.Dean barrow is trying to help the communities!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s true.The old faces in the PUP have this country like how it is now. 10 years of our lives. Millions of dollars into their pockets. They made sure that they prepared well for their 60 month holiday. If they had won another term we would have been fried dry. Because it had come to a point where their very own followers feared them. That was the PUP. At least down south. S/C and Toledo. But the UDP came and a relief was felt. Now UDP d do wa lata #@$$ry and expect that we wa support them again. No. People we need to search for new faces. It doesn’t matter if they are independent. As a matter of fact I wish at least eleven independents would run and win. In fact, I want to pin point people I admire: Godwin Hulse, Mark Espat, Cordel Hyde, Marcel Cardona(many young people will continue to be treated like him, they’ll be back benchers-used and misused less they retaliate against these old corrupt familiar faces), Leonardo Chavarria(for being courageous- he exposed corruption and injustice further south and he is really what people south would have wanted and still want). Stann Creek West-Nobody. Don’t know about the other districts-it would be good to get a sincere opinion from other districts. Everybody tiad a both parties. They won’t make a difference. They know they only have to wait their turn…like predators waiting on their prey. Wise up Belizeans!!
