No motive yet for murders of 15 and 19 year old youths

The Friday night murder of fifteen year old Devon Reynolds as he went about looking for his aunt on Caesar Ridge Road succeeded that of nineteen year old Shamir Medina who was gunned down just over an hour earlier as he rode his bicycle in the area of Plues St. While many believe that the shootings are gang related Reynolds’ mother, Sharon Cooper, told News Five on Monday that her son had no known enemies nor was he affiliated with any of the Belize City gangs. His murder is said to be an act of retaliation by members of the George Street Gang but today police press officer Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood told us that the Police Department has not been able to establish a motive for either of the two murders.

“We still are looking for three persons in connection with this senseless murder of a fifteen year old. We have questioned several people and we are of the opinion that people in that neighborhood saw what took place. We’re asking them to come forward. We are not asking anybody to make our job easier. We are asking them to help us keep Belize safe, make it safer for them. This is a neighborhood that I partially grew up in and it’s devastating to even think that so much shootings, so much killings are happening on the south side of Belize [City]. Not to say that it’s bad or it should be on the other side we want to stop it totally. We want to bring this to, if not an end, at least to a halt.”

“Based on the common belief among residents of that area the shooting that occurred Friday night involving the fifteen year old Devon Reynolds is an act of retaliation following that of the shooting of Shamir Medina. Can you shed some light as to whether or not, based on your investigations, if that is so?”

“Well Isani, I wish the people that spoke to you guys would come forward and tell us this because obviously if they have reached that conclusion that means that they know something. And for them to reach that conclusion, it would mean that they know who killed Shamir Medina and they probably know who killed Devon Reynolds. It is unfair for me to get out there as a professional, as a police officer to say that these shootings are directly related or it’s in direct retaliation when we cannot even establish the motive behind these two senseless killings. But at the same time, if it’s there’s opinion, it cannot be wrong because it is theirs, but at the same time, we at the police department, we move on facts. When I have the facts for you, then I will say yes this is confirmed or no this is not so.”
Reynolds was shot multiple times on Friday night and left for dead by two assailants who alighted a dark colored vehicle in the wake of a previous shooting. Police are still looking for three suspects and are asking the public’s assistance in their investigation. In respect of Medina’s murder, still no arrests have been made.
I don’t know why the 15 year old soul was so brutally murdered and I won’t pass any judgement. My sympathies to his family by all means. However, in the case of Shamir Medina, the chickens have come home to roost and he got the final view from the other side of the gun. Don’t worry Mrs. Melba Williams, (Glenford Williams’ mother) The other two have their day coming and you will get vengeance from above because what we do in this life we will pay for here!!! Yes there are motives for these killings.
Shamir Medina was a hoodlum George Street Gangster.
Supposedly the brother of Mark Medina, another hoodlum.
Then the other youth paid the ultimate sacrifice because he resided in the Kraal road area.
But things are taking a serious turn. Ghost Town is linking up with George Street. I foresee them killing each others soon.
Remember when Peter Tosh sang Peace Treaty and he said, “Do you remember the peace treaty weh dem sign eena Kingston City. This one have a gun and that one have a gun and when it bust”.
Ghost Town already falling apart since Junie Balls died. Now they don’t have a real leader. Sherlock wants the crown but Roger wants it also; then we can’t leave out Tencho and Jarvis.
Now its getting shittier soon Pinky, Troy, or Shiny Tillett will want to control Ghost Town and George Street.

Ummm…. excuse me Yearwood we cannot keep Belize safe because it has been unsafe for a very long time. And people are afraid to come forward even when they see and know something because they have “NO PROTECTION.” Things are rearly professionally done there.When my brother was murdered in LAdyville the other day the stupid investigators went to the witnesses’ house broad daylight to take her statements when they were told by the person in our presence ( please lets meet somewhere private), the guys said they know she will talk and they will deal with her if she does. They still went like dodo birds to the residence at day time too.
