She spoke about 1st suicide attempt; now she’s dead

Daisy Cerda

On February twenty-eighth of this year, nineteen year old Daisy Cerda, a promising fourth form student of Mopan Technical High School in the Cayo District, attempted to take her life. She wasn’t successful because her boyfriend arrived in the nick of time. We followed her story because she offered advice to other troubled youths at a time when there were many other attempts among teens in Benque Viejo. The number of cases sounded alarm bells among social activists because there were striking similarities: the victims were teenage girls, they dressed in manic clothing and they used the same modus operandi. News Five’s Marion Ali travelled west on Tuesday and found that Daisy made a second attempt on her life… and succeeded.

Marion Ali, Reporting

Community activists have since the last teen committed suicide in January, led a march denouncing suicides.  They felt it was the doing of “EMO”, a cult to which the girls are said to have secretly-sworn oaths.  When we spoke with her in February, Daisy Cerda told us that she was in no way linked to that cult and that the purpose for trying to take her own life was all personal and appeared almost contrite for having attempted to take her own life.

Daisy Cerda, Attempted Suicide

“I’m not sure why. I don’t have clear my thinking of why I did it. I’m not sure, but I just know that God gave me a next chance and that I am here. Thanks to my boyfriend, he found me and now I am here to talk to next youth.”

Marion Ali

“You said you don’t know what happened. Were you troubled by something?”

Daisy Cerda

“Well I was passing through many things. My cousin killed himself and that hurt me a lot and I had another problems and I think I put them all together and that made a big deal. Then I didn’t found how to come out of this problem and I thought this was the best thing to do, but I was wrong.”

Marion Ali

“Is there something that is happening that we can’t explain? Is there something that we are not seeing that is troubling you all?”

Daisy Cerda

“Well in my case I don’t think so. People say it’s about obeah and thing, blackjack and in my case it’s not because I haven’t played on that things and that bad things. But there are rumors that it may be a bad thing but I’m not sure. I can’t say if yes or no.”

Marion Ali

“For you it was individual problems?”

Daisy Cerda

“Individual problems.”

If you were wondering why we’re running this interview again, it is because Daisy Cerda is dead. She hung herself this past Monday. Unlike what she told us back in February, the stark evidence she left behind suggests that she was not facing personal problems; instead other issues were troubling her.

This is the tree where Daisy was found after seven on Monday morning after attaching a blue nylon string around her neck.  It is two miles off the Bullet Tree Road in an area called Paslow Falls near the Mopan River and right across from the home of the young man she had been dating.  Beneath the tree on a table she left frightening messages like:  “Mami perdon, Papi perdon” another read; “To all my family I love you.” She also left notes to her boyfriend and to her friends.  Another strange one that read, “Emo for Life” and then there was this chilling one that stood by itself on the bench where residents saw her sitting minutes before they found her—the digits 666.

Jesus Parr lives in Paslow Falls, and through a translator, told us the sequence of events just before the suicide occurred.

Jesus Parr

Jesus Parr, Resident, Paslow Falls

“A taxi from Benque bring the gial straight yah fi do the hanging and according to fi him mother-in-law, ih mi see the gial yah and when ih see the old lady ih do ahn right so. And she mi think that ih mi deh with somebody else or fi bathe right? So dehn never mi know.  Ih mother-in-law mi see di gial right yah right; heng. And when ih mi see di gial heng, ih gone look fi ih son and dah ih son weh call the police.”

Kelly Guerra is a high school teacher at Eden Seventh Day Adventist High School in San Ignacio. She has been at the helm of the campaign against suicides.  She says she is convinced that is there is more than meets the eye in Daisy Cerda’s case and she is making a public appeal for help in solving the problem.

Kelly Guerra, Teacher, Eden Seventh Day Adventist High School

Kelly Guerra

“What these EMO people are doing is that they are trying to make us believe that they are stopping that this is passing and that things are getting to an end with EMO. So they just try to make us feel comfortable but this is not what is happening.”

Marion Ali

“She herself in her interview told me that she was happy, that she had plans for her future, that she was happy that she was alive, she had plans for her future, she was sorry she hurt her family and then she goes and commits suicide this time.”

Kelly Guerra

“Yeah, it is so sad. When I spoke to her she told me that she is so happy that we are visiting her, that the pastors are there praying for her, but at no point did we expect that she was going to do something like this afterwards. But one of the psychologists when she came to my office she said that they will be monitoring her closely. But I don’t know whom to blame.  There are many parents whom their children have attempted suicide and they are so ashamed to tell, to open themselves and how can we help?”

Now that she has succeeded in taking her life; family, friends and the community by extension, are left to grapple with trying to unravel the mystery behind their immensurable loss.  Reporting for News Five, I am Marion Ali.

Daisy Cerda will be laid to rest in Benque Viejo del Carmen on Thursday.  Meanwhile, Kelly Guerra plans to start a non-governmental organization to assist troubled youths.

Ok this comes from way back. An organization wont help!!!! we have teenage pregnancy and tell me if the rate has been down no!!!
Old benque just find the stories behind and it has been from way back.!!

  4. Lo says:

The young lady (may she rest in peace) did not look Emo at all. She looked normal. Emo traits are dark hair and clothing. Did she have signs of self-harm? Like cutting herself or other ways of self mutilation? Something here is not right. Maybe she had problems with the boyfriend that no one knew about…Either way, it’s a sad situation, and topics like teenage suicide need to be addressed in Belize and everywhere else where teenage suicide is not fully understood. It should not be a “taboo” topic…

  5. risu says:

EMO mih backside. It is easier to blame some outside force, than for the family and friends to accept their own faults. Was she ever taken for counselling? Did she suffer from depression? Depression is a medical problem, not a cult thing. Damn ignorant fools. Continue being simple, more of your children will continue to hang.

  6. deedee says:

So sad… And what is this EMO thing all about????

  7. Christian Girl says:

Parents need to pray for their children and also teach their children to pray. In this modern day and age, the parents have forgotten proper parenting inclusive of Christ in their homes. Stop ignoring your children and start teaching them the true faith and trust in God. Suicide, gang crimes, and hate crimes are all source of evil and the only way to fight evil is with the love we have in Christ Jesus our savoir. No evil could ever survive the Love of God.

  8. Ana says:

This is so sad. I pray her family finds answers and peace.

  9. Xaan says:

May her soul rest in Peace. it gives me chills seeing that mark of the beast… hmmmm…… i truly believe the world is coming to an end…

  10. le_dude says:

I didn’t apperciate ’emo’ being called a cult. A cult is an expression derived by the Christian’s who saw it unfit to their eyes. Christianity should BE called the cult instead. But, there is more to this story than the superfical exposed underskin. Peope have problems, especially when pressured by religous parents/schools. I’ve been in this position where i wanted to commit suicide but thanks to friends and stopped listening to the irrationality of the church/parents i pulled through.

  11. cg says:

what makes anyone think a person who wants to take their life will let you know upfront. Influence on these girls are like anything else written in the Bible. and this whole 666 business is straight out the TV. Now everybody will start with this antichrist business and obeah instead of finding the root of the problem, the influence behind these girls actions. When they are saddened down by things in their life and the only hope to cling to is somone spewing EMO chants they will listen where more attention is.

  12. annoyed says:

I am quiet confused of this issues, I am wondering if this are really SUICIDES that are happening. why would she go to kill herself at her boyfriend house? i dont get that, why would she admit she wouldnt do it again. I am thinking that if this emo thing does exsist there is someone with experience/older that is motivating them and teaching them kiling themselve is the answer!

  13. Bz says:

Just an FYI the whole EMO thing is all bs, its not the Emo lifestyle that causes them to commit suicide, they obviously had deep psychological problems, listening to $#!%%& music and writing 666 does not make you kill yourself. Every generation had its “alternative lifestyle” was rock back in teh 60’s then heavy metal 80’s then grunge in the 90’s now we have EMO…fyi it stands for EMO TIONAL its just $#!%%& music bands play about how sad they are etc. It is just young people being rebellious, these kids need real counselling, they need attention and love from friends and family.

  14. Kay says:

If a person that feels he no longer has anything to live for attempts suicide and doesn’t succeed chances are he’ll try again until he gets it right. So sad,so young.

  15. Higher Level says:

Clearly the problems afflicting our youths are not concentrated solely in Southside Belize City. The suicidal crave seems to be raging amongst our youths throughout the country. In Belize City, the youths in their suicidal mode, most unfortunately, take another lives with them. The country has lost its soul. What are the church leaders doing? When the society’s bottom has fallen off, the church steps in. Where are the church leaders? Don’t they see that the politicians and other civic leaders cannot lead this country through the abyss it has sunk?

  16. Elgin Martinez says:

What are Social workers doing to help some of these kids and their families with some form of counseling?

  17. RG Belizean says:

    @ Lo totally agree!!!

  18. cindy says:

the girl had two boyfriends. maybe its the one in bullet tree that did it.

Dear Mr. Dean Borrow and Corporals in Belize.
Kids are seen in clubs doing drugs and alcohol. clubs of course will not leave them outside its their measure of making money. if our laws were to be respected and implemented we would have a good country. we hae the best laws but are ignored.

Put a little more attention to kids they are the ones causing crimes and stupidness

  19. Stephen says:

Too much murder now suicide due to witchcraft, Belize is in trouble and God will let us suffer by leaving satan to have his way with us. This year we will have some natural disaster as punishment if we do not stop and ask for forgiveness as a nation.

  20. CONCERNED says:

All that obeah and cult thing is at times a belief that is instilled by the parents, its sad. As a teenager I was going through a problem that I was scared of confronting my parents with. I was frightened of how they would react, therefore I attempted suicide, ran away from home. But no one could not have convinced my parents that it was not obeah that was causing my problems. They took me to witch craft doctors, those visits made me attempt suicide more. So I am in no belief of obeah or cult I got help for my depression . Depression is a medical problem ! and we have lots of teenager facing that issue today.

  21. Nicole says:

I’m just in shock…EMO is becoming a powerful source to teens!

  22. largeandsexy says:

I am really blaming anyone, but I wonder why the mental health didn’t work harder with this young woman, once a person try suicide and survive they will try until they succeed My personal believe is that psychiatric personnel do not believe in prayer or God. I feel like this is the time to turn to God in prayer, Benque Viejo need deliverance, looking back at the past years as soon as Easter time comes by and after all the Benque celebrations there is always cases of suicide, makes me wonder WHY???? People go back and find out it is true, check out the past history of suicide cases in Benque its right before or after Easter. Parents turn from your wicked ways, pray for your children, God is the same from yesterday, today and forever, he is able to heal your lives, never forget our number one enemy the devil is roaring to devour the people, we need to PRAY AND PRAY AND PRAY.

  23. MACAL RIVERA says:

IN BENQUE VIEJO YOU CAN FIND THE CHATONNA, THE LLORONA, SANTO ENTIERRO, ALL KINDS OF MYTHS,YOU CAN FIND BARS WITH FULL SERVICES FROM THE WAITRESSES, IN BENQUE YOU CAN GET ANY MARRIED MAN YOU WANT ASK THE BUS DRIVERS AND TAXI MEN,YOU CAN FIND ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING EXCEPT YOU CAN’T FIND JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH.PEOPLE OF BENQUE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE SINS OF THE PARENTS FALL UP TO FOUR GENERATIONS TO THEIR CHILDREN.
BENQUENOS GET ON YOUR KNEES AND ASK GOD FOR FORGIVENESS AND TO HEAL YOUR LAND, OR THE DEVIL WILL SURELY TAKE OVER FOR GOD!!! COMMON PEOPLE REPENT FOR THERE IS FORGIVENESS,OK

  24. WESTERNMERMAID says:

I am at lost of word!! I really have a doubt but I really don’t think this young woman commit suicide???
How she mange to climb such a high tree? Maybe I am wrong, only God knows what took place there.
Parents need to be more vigilant of their children, more loving, parents spend time with your children, QUALITY TIME, please understand your children, never forget you were once young.
It so sad that such beautiful young woman didn’t have anything to live for.
ONLY PARENTS CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR CHILDREN LIVES, SO DON’T BLAME CHURCH LEADERS OR POLITICIANS, IT;S ABOUT PARENTING!!!!!!!

  25. Christian Girl says:

@ le_dude stop blaming the term “cult” on Christianity. You should know that the Origin of the term CULT comes form the French & Latin; French culte, from Latin cultus care, adoration, from colere to cultivate — more at wheel(deduced from miriamwebster.com). The first known use was in 1617 and Christianity had started long before that… You believe that the pressure from “Religious” parents drive young men and women to commit suicide? Now that’s also unfounded, maybe some parents in general put too much pressure on kids, it has nothing to do with religion. I am more inclined to believe friends put too much pressure on their pairs trying to influence them to make their mistakes in life such as drinking, doing drugs, joining gangs, etc.

  26. jer says:

    What is emo
The term “Emo” is used as counterculture; it is an abreviation of the word “emotional”. Emo it’s defining not only an attitude, but also a fashion that are coming from emocore (emo music). Emocore is a combination between hardcore and punk music which was very popular in Washington DC in the late 80’s. The emo culture continued to develop between ’90 and ’00, reaching the height of its popularity today.

    › Emo Kids
The term for the teenagers who listen emocore is emo kids. The society thinks about them as failures; they are not strong enough to hide their emotions, they’re sensitive, shy, introverted, and often quiet. Usually, Emo kids like to express their feeling writing poems about their problems with depression, confusion, and anger; all because the world fails to understand them. Emo poetry uses a combination of any of: a highly emotional tone, stream of consciousness writing, a simple (ABAB) or nonexistent rhyme scheme, references to the flesh, especially the heart, heavy use of dark or depressing adjectives, and concern over the mutability of time, love or both. Themes such as life is pain are common. You can check some ’emo poems’ on our forum! Altough life is already very hard for them, emo kids have to suffer for even more society prosecution because of their condition. The term ’emo’ itself is used nowadays as an insult. Adressed to a person means they are ‘overly emotional’. Emocore is compared with pop boy bands of 1990s. Critics cast the music as lacking any artistic merit and that the fashion is just … a fashion used to drive girls attention. The ones who are emo not because they feel it, but because they like to be trendy are named ‘posers’. A big percent of the current emo subculture is formed by posers. Emo subculture is acused that it is celebrating self-harm. As i’ve said before many fail to understand that those are only fake emos (rawrr you bastards, get away from here); actually i have no rights to judge them even if most of us suffer because of them.

Most definitions of emo hold that an emo person is emotionally candid, sensitive, introverted, quiet, shy and glum when referring to a person’s personality and attitude. Sad, depressed and heart broken are often used to describe the emo personality. Emo music and poetry often describes unrequited love, emotional and relationship problems, suicide and death. Attention seeking and over dramatic is also associated with being emo.

By practically all current definitions, Emo clothing consists of tight jeans or skinny’s on both males and females, long side fringes which are brushed to one side of the face or over one or both eyes, dyed black, straightened hair often with a patch of red or pink, tight t- which often bear the names of emo bands, belt buckles, studded belts, canvas sneakers which are usually converse brand or skate shoes or other black shoes, if they wear glasses, they will often be thick, black horn-rimmed glasses. The Emo fashion is also starting to include tattoo’s, Stretched ears and other facial piercing’s. Emo kids might also wear eyes make up and accessories like wrist bands and bandanas.

  27. redgirl says:

Any teenageer who who talks about commiting suicide should not have spoken to the media because you are under presure and you will say what the media wants to hear. What should have happen is I hope she got a psych evaluation and was put on hold somewhere examine for a couple days and a psychiatric said she was fine. It becomes sticky when someone is giving a warning about taking their own life and no one takes it seriously any counselor or therapist should have known if she is left alone she would try it again. This child should have a had support all the way to deal with this issue, I wonder who will sleep good at night knowing they didn’t do all they can to save this child may she RIP.

  28. CLEANHEART says:

I pray that God will comfort the family of Daisy Cerda. Let this be a lesson for parents who curse their children daily.
It is our sacred duty to raise our children in a loving family, God fearing family teaching them good moral values, the word of God say that children are a blessing from God, our inheritance from God, when children are raise in loving family they are secured, have a high self esteem, and grow up as productive citizens. Its is the parents moral sacred duty to raise their children in this fashion.
I know for a true fact men have children with different women, and women with different men, failing to realize its the children that suffer the consequences of their actions, this is where the abuse of children starts, most of the time it they end up in gangs, crime and suicide.

  29. Jesus loves U says:

The real problem behind this issue is lack of love and attention from parents. I call on all parents, PLEASE DEDICATE QUALITY TIME TO YOUR KIDS! if not, they will find that attention outside, and guess who is snatching them away from our hands. THE DEVIL.

We must learn to have Jesus in our homes and in our hearts. Please, the only way out is JESUS. For those who do not know about EMO, search and you will be paralyzed with the findings.
Lets be on the alert, and let us all pray and help.

  30. Mimz says:

The kind of help these youths need is NOT only prayers and people need to stop judging and shoving their ideologies down their throats, same reason why they feel out of place and end up committing suicide.

  31. belizeanpride says:

this is alarming and concerning. but what i find more interesting is where are the parents how this young lady wonders so far from home and have the parents no idea she was at risk. she should have been on constant vigilance from her parents. for once if my kids would be outside my home i would like to know where they are going and with who. but it seems like the parents neglected this young lady at some point in her life. kids do mischieve but yes we as parents need to see more to does that need help as this young lady. they knew her risk but they left her alone again to seek her own way of finding the solution to her problems. i really blame the parents 75% and the rest to the young lady for not bringing this life risking problem she had to her parents for help and guidance before this suicide happened the second attempt and she succeeded.

  32. unknown says:

well guys, ummm you might think that this is no form of emo thing or so.guess what?it is written in the Bible.God says that there are things that will come to this world. let us be alarmed, this is a message telling us that the world is coming to an end. you might not believe in the emo revolution. just remember that the devil will be cast on to fire and will be destroyed forever. he does not want to go alone. he is seeking for company and guess what? he loves taking youths with him. mind people, satan works in many ways such as through T.V. ,music, clothing etc. don’t let him win you. in benque, this suicidal issues are becoming a great concern. believe it or not it is a form of satanic influence. only God can help. please pray for the youths of benque.let’s win the battle and let’s fight against satan.there will be eternal life as a reward for God’s children, but there will be eternal death for those who chose to neglect Christ to follow our enemy.

  33. valerie says:

maybe she was pregnant and didnt now what to do

  34. guerra says:

it is sad to our community in benque viejo del carmen…we are know facing 7 or 8 suicide cases, from 2010 t0 2011at an aproximately range ages of 17 t0 42 years old. if we deeply analized the situation it can be sumarized to one thing that can be proved to the theory faculty of law- they were not EMO’s they were human beings that were mentally weak and were afraid to comment on there situation.
why would i sustain that??? you may ask, it is/was because i used to do councelling sessions, psicological therapies, and other thing to help those that seek for assitance at my house, but unfortunately i was judge wrong-till to be proven but as how politics goes- i can share what Deisy Cerda was going through…. even the mother knows about my concerns about her daughter….. it was /or is a confusing seen about the emos, she did it because our society in benque wouldnt help her, and the key to the solution was to commit suicide… let us not judge the young girl….instead let us help the family.. they are suffering at the moment….. let us pray for them and a key to those who are or will read this remember that the first school is our home and if we educat our child with spiritual learnings his mind wouldnt be week…… expect a documentry that will be done by me and others influencial entities in Benque.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo#Suicide

SuicideEmo music has been blamed for the suicide by hanging of teenager Hannah Bond by both the coroner at the inquest into her death and her mother, Heather Bond, after it was claimed that emo music glamorized suicide and her apparent obsession with My Chemical Romance was said to be linked to her suicide. The inquest heard that she was part of an Internet “emo cult” [125] and her Bebo page contained an image of an ’emo girl’ with bloody wrists.[126] It also heard that she had discussed the “glamour” of hanging online[125] and had explained to her parents that her self harming was an “emo initiation ceremony”.[126] Heather Bond criticised emo fashion, saying: “There are ’emo’ websites that show pink teddies hanging themselves.”

  38. Government? says:

I think this gives the government something to think about because they invest so much money on crap and pocket the rest yet what happens to the mental health unit. as a former school counselor i have seen and heard it all… i have seen depression in its worst state… and then some… but where can these kids turn ? what services does the government offer… in the u.s. or any other country in our region these kids would have been placed under the direct care of a psychiatrist, they would have been evaluated and would have been taken care of until they return to their full state of mental health.. in belize they tell you sorry we don’t have time or finance.. go home and we will pray for you. as a christian i believe in prayer but god says he helps those who help themselves. suicide is on the increase. where is the government…. what will they do to improve the mental health department. cases of depression are on an increase… what can the mental health department do if there are no funds and no trained people to deal with these.. about 8 people in the entire country… woow 8 people to deal with over 1000 mentally challenged people, 20,000 depressed people and then some..

Emo a.k.a Emotional: Are you …………….. kidding me? What the hell is wrong with Belize, we seriously need to turn of the goddamn t.v. in this country, American television is poisoning our children’s minds and parents for the love of God MONITOR YOUR CHILDREN’S ONLINE ACTIVITIES, emo is this retarded crap in the USA: now it is here? WTFFFFFFFFF. Jesus Christ Almighty, send the asteroid, send it!!!!

  40. belizeanpride says:

  41. The People Had Enough says:

hahaha, i love how people/parents/adults are always figuring out how to blame. No one to blame for these kids problems but the adults/parents that surrounds them…not social workers, not Government not anyone but the people that should love, guide and protect these kids and that usually is the parent(s) or guardians. Yes, we lost our soul and now we, adults, are trying to steal it from the kids. This Emo bs is a load of crap and these kids watch too much Goddamn t.v. and on the internet all day….that is what is raising kids these days, video games, t.v. and the unmonitored internet, while the parents are either out drinking, screwing the neighbors wife or husband. beating the crap out the kids or molesting them. We have a sick, twisted, uncivilized society, Belizeans have been bombarded with so much outside crap that we have no idea who we are or how to be civilly…we leave our kids on the massy of the world and then stand there all confused looking when they go out and get pregnant, kill or commit suicide.

  42. Doris says:

i have noticed that pass these months many cases of suicide have been reportedin Benque .. something is actually going wrong in that place…

  43. george alamilla says:

All these explanations have some sense and some don’t.My theory is that teenage boys and girls sometimes will want to prove and hurt or impress someone with their actions.Inevitably commiting suicide while they will get their message across, they will not be here to get the satisfaction of the results. This is where they err. However, there should be a channel to where they can discuss their problems. For teenagers, being poor is a social stigma and thus their depression.

  44. tobe says:

This girl was not an emo, she needed love. Family relationship is the root of all these problems, crimes, drugs, suicide. Adolescents need to be loved and nurtured not only by their parents but also by their teachers, friends the community.
The girl might had been suffering from low self-esteem or depression she needed counseling.
Its so sad that now adolescents want to identify themselves as emo’s ,emos are weak, lowself-esteem , insecure individuals that doesn’t appreciate their life nor their talents or capabilities. Just for an instant adolescents should analyze their potential and make the best out of their life. If they have a leader or someone putting these ideas on their head.if this leader tells them to kill themselves well tell him or her to kill herself first because she is the leader make he/she go first.
Adolescents you need to focus in your studies family and the beautiful things that life offer you.Why/ you will kill yourself if you have food, shelter, health, family, education and most important life. you are unique and special in your own way and that is the beauty of living!!! we are all different.
no problem is bigger than our God!!
May God protect and guide you all!!!!

  46. Al says:

This is not obeah, these kids are growing up so fast and everything around them look so hopeless. They drop out of school and just sit around, the devil will find work for idle hands and minds. The Bible says that the devil comes to steal to kill and to destroy. He is doing this very thing in Belize. All these other religion that we honor with a day of activity is what is releasing the curse over the country. Just get back to Jesus. Belize really need prayer. We need to put all these other religion away and focus on Jesus who said that if he be lifted he will draw all men to him. Let us get back to God. God is bigger than obeah. It is all up to what you believe, if you believe that obeah can take your man away it will happen. If you speak the word of God over your situation, he will work it out to your benefit. This country needs a strong revival. Pleae Pastors and Ministers get together and have a day of prayer, praise and worship of God and release the Holy Spirit to protect our land again. People of Belize repeat the Psalm 23, daily, also Psalm 25, pleae if you read this, get your Bible and begin to release the power of God over the country. God will not interveen in anything unless we invite him to do so. He gave us free will, the word of God says he is looking for one man or woman to stand in the gap. So start calling on Jesus and the word of God. Prayers work so start praying people. Parents stop calling your children derogatory names and start speaking good things into their lives. The language of Belize needs to change. Stop saying things like, me just want one lee peice of land, or me no need much you know, just one lee roof over my head, the Bible says you have what you say. Start thinking big even though you may not even have a piece of bread, start expecting more than you have right now. I know it sounds stupid to some. That is how God works, whatever you say you have, it is possible to have. The Bible says the power of life and death is in the tongue. So whatever the tongue speaks that is what you shall have. Please my people change your ways and let God be God. The Bible also says that Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. Not Saint Anthony, not Lady of Guadalupe or any other man made saint they can do nothing for you. The word of God simply says whatever you desire when you prya believe you have it and you shall receive it. It also says if you ask in the name of Jesus it shall be done. Not Mary will do it, Saint Jude will do it, it says pray to the Father in Jesus name. I do not mean to offend anyones religion, but I speak the truth of the Bible which is of God, and I make no apologies for that.

  48. Jesus loves U says:

guerra, you have a strong point! I do not agree that the benque people did not help. I am witness to the various churches, entities, friends and others who daily visited the young lady. The community assisted, now my question is where was the mental health department? She was undergoing treatment, but stopped….. So tell me…aren’ they suppose to go look for their patients who are in need? This is not a time to blame, this is a time to get together and help. Our youths need actions not words……They are going through a difficult stage and we adults must be ready to help always…. What we should ask ourselves is>>>>>>>>>>>WHAT DID I DO TO ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM…..SO IF I DID NOTHING, WELL IT’S TIME TO BE HELPFUL. THIS SITUATION IS FOR US TO BE ON THE ALERT AND HEEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPPP. WE NEED NO TALKING WE NEED ACTION………

to Sabuskii: you are so !@#$%^& stupid. how do you dare to judge us benqueños if you dont know us, you dont live there.

my utmost condolence to her family, may she rest in peace.

  50. Pensive says:

My heart breaks to hear what is happening to our youth all across our beautiful country, including Benque. Of course, I need to state that this young beautiful girl was not a student of Sacred Heart College. This is a misinformation. However, it doesn’t matter which school she was going to, our hearts and compassion go to her family who is suffering at this moment. It is true that we as a society, as grownups, as parents, as leaders of the nations need to place more interest in our young people. We adults need to look at our actions..are they good? Are our actions the young people can imitate? This is a time for all parents and all else in charge of young people, that’s including the church leaders, to get up and take positive actions to get our youth involved in positive things. WE do not want another young person killed by his/her own hand or anyone else;s hand.
And of course we need GOD in our lives. Let us not forget that He is the only way. Let’s think carefully how we treat our children. They need us to listen to them, to love them, to care for them, to understand them. We need to do it now, because THEY NEED IT NOW. God bless Belize!
