2 Dangriga fathers convicted of sexually abusing their daughters
In the Dangriga Supreme Court today Justice Troadio Gonzalez handed down two hefty sentences in cases of sexual assault where the perpetrators were the fathers of the victims. The first was a fifty-three year old man, who was found guilty on April first of raping his daughter ten times. He was sentenced to eight years for each count, a total of eighty years behind bars to run consecutively. The victim, who was twenty-one years old at the time, says that the abuse lasted from March 2005 to November 2006. She testified that her father would take her into his room and touch her inappropriately before raping her. In his defense, the father simply told the court that he never abused his daughter.
The other trial was against a forty-one year old man, also of southern Belize. In this case, the victim was only eight years old when the abuse began. She claimed that her father had sexual intercourse with her five times between 2006 and 2007 and sodomized her once when she was ten years old. He was sentenced to a total of seventy-five years in prison; twelve years for each of the first five counts and another fifteen for the unnatural crime. Because of the sensitivity of the cases, the names of the victims nor the perpetrators can be revealed.

How can a father have intercourse with his own daughter his flesh and blood thats very nasty and disgusting. i think when incident like this happen they should hangthem from thier …… they have ruin these girls lives mein i hope they get what they deserve in jail

if the news media prints the names of those devils the young women involved will most definetly be harassed… by the other family members of the “fathers”….. much sensitivity is needed when rape is invloved…
the names aren’t listed to protect the victims in these cases especially the young child. no one wants to be known as the girl who’s father raped her. it is enough that they where convicted sentenced and locked away . let the healing take place without the social stigma attached to the girls
These men are sick and the best punishmnet would be tp castrate them. That way they would not be able to harm anyone that way again. They should also be sentenced to hard labour. I cannot understand the mentality of these men and there are so many more out there. I hope that they are all found.

I bet you these men have no jobs, sit and drink and talk foolishness all day, and play dheckers or gamble. The devil will find work for idle hands. Men of Belize your job is to protect your child not abuse them. Only God can change Belize. Everyone says God will help me, yes he will but someone has to call upon him and invite him to change Belize, God will not interfere until he is ask to. Its got to be a mix up with the age of female mentioned in the first case, or she has mental problem that does not allow her to be able to defend herself. If she is considered physically fit and reasonably mentally capable, why would she allow her father to take her into his room without any king of resistance? Further, no matter where they were and what time of the day or night, why did she allow him to touch her on parts of her body that is of a sexual come on? However the counter question is of course, why would she lie on her father? Answer: only the two of them know the real story.
Coralblack, I go along with your assement of the situation in Belize at this time. There seem to be some kind of mental experiment going on with the population without their knowledge, from the politicians down. We see a young man showing up for American Idol screening and got very agitated because he was rejected, to the point that he was talking about been violent because he could not get his way. And the country take it as a joke, not realizing that this young man is a ticking time bomb. The people of the country are badly in need of a serious mental over hall, starting with their diet that is a major factor to our well being. GET WITH FOLLOW BELIZEANS, YOU ALL ARE LOOSING IT FAST.

Why isn’t there a public registry for sex offenders?Maybe this is what Mr Barrow need to be focusing on.Forget about that draconian thing and let’s work on a sex offender’s registry.All these information should be in the public records.

From my assessment you obviously don’t seem to live in Belize and hence don’t have an inkling of the type of people that live in Belize! Questioning why a 21 year old “allowed” herself to be raped by her father is another way of blaming the victim If you are 21 & living at home, you are a child & we cannot ask young women who have been obedient for a lifetime to stop being so. In addition, she may have been beaten down for so long that she was afraid to do or say anything until someone else intervened. My question would be whether or not there were other young women in the home & if they too were abused & forced to remain silent.

I knew this man he use to be a exB.D,F souldier i only knew him as Nash he use to rent a room just beside minds on #1 Victoriaa Street. he was always miserable and looked up in his room, and never wanted to socialized with other tennants. not knowing that he was capable of destroying the lives of his daughters instead of sending them to school to be some one special in life. do you think that God will forgive him for what he had done to his owen child? this man was always with his bible and at time wanted to fight with the other tennants. well i am not no one to say if he will be seeing God face. let my God do his work.
It is one of the worst things a parent can do to a child that you fatherd. this is not anything new and many many of our friends and neighbors are living proofs of this today, but it has always been kept quiet to save face and keep the family secrets, we were raised with a swift hand and a strong back mother and you were obligated to respect and obey your parents , some parents took advantage of that respect and obedience displayed to them and indulged in such crude and disgusting behaivor as such…wether we can come to terms with these facts there are still young women or girls living in homes where they are raped and molested daily by their father,how do you know who he is,..he’s the guy you hang with by the bar, could be the guy standing next to you now discussing this story with you, he’s the bible toting preacher man in your church,he’s your favorite politician you voted for..your brother your father your uncle….OPEN YOUR EYES AND YOU SHALL SEE THE SIGNS OF SEXUAL ABUSE IS THERE….WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT??????
