Canadian national acquitted of uttering a false document

Upstairs, in the Supreme Court today, Richard Mattis, a forty-eight year old Canadian National, who has been living in San Pedro for over four years, employed as a combat aircraft engineer went on trial. It is alleged that Mattis had a forged license for his boat, named Carol, but on September seventh, 2009, he managed to trick the system and renewed it for valid documents. He was charged with Uttering a False Document when the purported fraud was detected. The case began last Friday and during a void dire today, Attorney Linsbert Willis made a no case submission on the grounds that the prosecution didn’t have all elements to prove the charge. Judge Adolph Lucas had also given the Crown a day to research the law and process of license renewals, but that information was never provided to the court. The jury of seven women and two men was then ordered to acquit Mattis of the charge.
It wouldn’t be surprising to me that they’ve also issued this idiot a Belizean passport.All these foreigners are aware of the flaw in our system as a result they know that they can do as they please in our country and get away.Our National Security is at risk.Hence the reason the Jewel is been used as a safe heaven for foreign criminals.
There are two justice systems in Belize….One for white men and then the other for Belizeans..

How does one RENEW a forged license?
What more elements did the prosecution need toprove it’s case than the forged license?

Wow. From the article and the responses you would think this guy raped numerous women and and little girls. Please, at most, he might have been guilty of an infraction. Afterall, we’re only talking about the regristration of a boat for crying out loud. I’m amazed at the intollerence regarding “foreigners.” Should no person from another country come to Belize? What about individuals from Belize that choose to go to another country – should they be judged and condemed as a foreigner as you are doing to this man for an infraction? I think not.
