Viewers get their say about crime initiatives in online poll
The murder count is at thirty-seven and it’s only mid-April. Everyone desperately wants something to be done to rein in crime. But how far can the government go with legislative changes? We asked our viewers earlier this week, if they thought that government should first tackle the social ills instead of imposing draconian laws to reduce crime. On our e-poll, sixty-five percent agreed that there is a need to first deal with the myriad of problems causing the social decay, while thirty-five percent favor the draconian laws. According to one viewer, laws do not matter if there is “weak enforcement and a lack of proper investigative methods”.
Channel 5…………what % said to use both methods??????????????????????
What the hell is going on is it something in the water maybe we have to go back to catching the rein water in vats again instead of buting bottle water who knows what the hell the adding to that water nd if it doesn’t rain then we drink pipe water just saying. The youths are missing out on all the fun they should be having in Belize they think foreign is better you have a jewel right at home take advantage people.
The first priority should be to tackle social ills, laws are only laws on the books until they are appropriately enforced. The poor will not benefit from draconian laws or any laws for that matter. A hungry man is an angry man. Most us I believe, heard the guys on the news clip broadcast by Channel 7, re, the stolen copper wire from BEL. They cleared stated that they will steal the copper no matter what, every time it is replaced they will steal it, because they were doing this to eat and feed their families.
