Double murderers for life
A week ago, after a month long trial, a jury found thirty-six year old Leslie Pipersburgh and thirty-four year old Patrick Robateau guilty of double murder. This morning about six armed police officers arrived with the shackled men at the Supreme Court which had been cordoned off for security purposes. It was their day of reckoning for the heinous crimes; the prosecution did not seek the death penalty and Justice Adolph Lucas formally sentenced both men to life in prison. Their sentences are effective as of April seventh, when they were convicted on two of four counts of murder for the deaths of K.B.H. security guards Fidel Mai and Kevin Alvarez. In mitigation, there were no character witnesses to speak on behalf of neither Pipersburgh nor Robateau, who also chose to remain quiet. It was left up to Attorneys Oswald Twist and Michael Peyrefitte to ask the court for leniency.
The murders occurred during a robbery on June eighteenth, 2002, at the Bowen and Bowen Compound on Slaughterhouse Road, where both convicts were previously employed. Their former Supervisor, Arthur Griffith, testified during trial that Pipersburgh and Robateau robbed him of company cash and then locked him in bathroom, just before the security guards arrived to pick up the deposit. The men were never charged for the robbery, but those details were used to confirm their identities and to establish the scenario surrounding the murders of Mai and Alvarez. A third security guard, Carl Ventura, was also shot to the mouth and shoulder but he survived and was able to testify in the case. Pipersburgh and Robateau left the scene in a Coca-Cola Truck; they were followed by police but they abandoned the vehicle, the cash and other stolen items in the Coral Grove area and escaped. It was in that area that the other two victims, Cherry Tucker and David Flores, were fatally shot. Police believe the killers wanted their vehicle, but that could not be proven in court. Both convicted men have spent close to ten years behind bars fighting the case. They were convicted in 2004, took their appeal all the way to the Privy Council and were granted a retrial, only to end up back at square one… life in prison.
WHAT~! A CONVICTION???? Are you serious? We finally got one right? No one got bribed? The justice system actually worked? F*^* me and call me sally, this is something Ive never seen since….since….someone help me out there.
Seeking retrials cos they were sure to have an opporunity to get away with murder; they should be locked away for life for protection of public and witnesses good for the courts keep it up!
Apparently justice has been served, henceforth, all murders and potentially dangerous criminals should be paraded to court fully shackled!!!!
hang them dont waste the tax payers money hang them.
convicted twice, sentenced twice, now do your time and stop complaining you do the crime you do the time simple period no appeal no retrial …
YES, YES, YES!!!!. This is a big start. Put these THUGS that murder their own people away in prison for LIFE…..This send a clear message to all the THUGS; that they CAN be sent to prison, too, for LIFE.
PRISON FARM FOR LIFE……..THERE THEY CAN EARN THEIR KEEP and CONTRIBUTE TO SOCIETY…..at no cost to tax-payers.
THEY WOULD BE A LOT MORE PRODUCTIVE ON THE PRISON FARM.
THEY could learn to grow/FARM different things to provide for school lunches….
………..NO NEED TO IMPORT ONIONS.
THEY could learn to make things from wood, i.e. desks and chairs for all the schools and government offices.
BUILD A PRISON FARM IN TOLEDO…………..Kolbe too close to Belize City
IT’S A WIN-WIN SITUATION FOR ALL………………..
Yeah!!!!!!!
so what ——– big news to come ———— the two will be out in the street and kill -=– again ———————- sone one will eat big cheese——————-to set them free
finally justice prevails!!!!
From the Words of Allah and His Messenger (sallallahu `alaihi wa sallam): 50 Signs of the Day Of Judgement. Present Day: # 20 – Bloodshed will increase. Believe it, don’t believe it. It is still fact.
Why wasn’t the death penalty sought upon the two defendants for the horrendous crimes they committed? Life in prison at the expense of the Belizean taxpayer? This is ridiculous, these people will kill again. We need to rid our society of this depraved murderers, that way ,a clear message will be sent to anyone who thinks they will commit these atrocious crimes and recieve leniency. I wonder if this brings any closure to the familes of the victims. Let us hope that these thugs meet thier fate while incarcerated.
My cousin’s soul can finally rest in peace. My auntie’s mind is at ease along with the entire family. I am glad those animals will remain in prison for the rest of their life. Thank GOD!!! Rest in peace Kevin, you are surely missed.
I an more than happy about the verdict of thisThe only reason thesr guys were convicted is because they couldn’t higher Dickie. What a double standard?
I believe our justice system needs to improve alot along with the juror system. As I have learn despite the type of crime a person is innocent until proven guilty and lot of time jurors are on cases and have found the person guilty before the case is even heard or completed, which is wrong. Also, people on the outside that is not there to hear the case should be anger at a verdict for one jurors are suppose to give a verdict base on the evidence given in court and many of the times the evidence is not there or is not enough to convict. This case has a lot of lose ends whether
we want to see it or not but again who to blame or justice system. If these guys appeal again the chances for them to get off is high.

Stupid @$$ Dean Barrow need to stop talking DRACONIAN and start doing some $#!%.
These “animals” are murderers of the first degree. There was a time in Belize when murder was very rare. Where did the good old values of respect for life and people go? What is being taught
to so many Belizeans? We all need to refocus on our moral values? The murder rate in Belize is
shameful and inexcusable.
Dean Barrow betta change the law that Musa brought in which allows prisoners to get paroled after only serving 1/3 of their sentence. jAIL TIME SHOULD MEAN Do the crime pay the time. iT USED TO BE THAT A PRISONER HAD TO SERVE ATLEAST 2/3 OF HIS SENTENCE BUT I DON’T KNOW WHY MR MUSA CHANGED IT. I AM SURE HE TOO NOW REALISES THAT IT WAS A BAD IDEA BCAZ WE ARE SEEING TOO MANY REPEAT OFFENDERS ON THE NEWS. TAKE FOR EXAMPLE THTA RICKY VALENCIA GUY WHO WAS ARESSTED FOR THE BANK ROBBERY. I TIAD A SE DA BALLY PAN TV. I SEE HE PAN NEWS EVERY OTHA MONTH DAT I FEEL LIKE I NOW PERSONALLY KNOW THE MAN. There should be no parole for any crime. I ALSO WANT TO SE THE TRIAL WITHOUT JURY FOR KILLERS THING KICK IN BECAUSE YAW; DAT WA BE THE ONLY WAY FI SEND MORE PEOPLE LIKE THESE 2 TO JAIL.
Now that these two callous, cold-blooded, stone-hearted murderers have gotten their just due, lock up the !#$%ing attorney who stood up in court to defend them. Add insult to injury!
What is so sad about this entire situation is tha i know both of these guys.Pipersberg brother is my friend .I mean the older pipe Dread Bwai. And Patrick was also my friend this guy was like a brother to me .Patrick was a BDF.I really don’t know what happened. But Pipe and Patrick unu got too do unu time my Bwai.
THEY CONVICTED THEM FOR THE MURDER OF THE TWO SECURITY GUARDS. THATS FINE BUT WHAT ABOUT MY FATHER AND CHERRY? THEY JUST GO AS A CASUALTY OF THE SYSTEM ????
what about my father ? is he just a casualty to the system ? guess there wasn’t enough evidence to convict them for that crime….. i would rather i have my father in my life and my children’s life than for them to just go as a simple casualty…….
I agree with earl Grey, they should be made to earn their keep instaed of wasting taxpayers money. Hope that they do not get parole either.
These “________” kiilled 4 people and destroyed the lives of countless others. Their actions have also inspired other idiots to commmit crime. I see no justice here, no cause for celebration. The families should sue them.
@ Davion…They recieved life sentences…, even though it could not be proven they killed your dad and Ms. Tucker, who by the way, were two close friends on my aunt….They will never, ever see the light of day….JUSTICE HAS STILL BEEN SERVED…They Will Both DIE IN PRISON!!!
Hang them Highhh!!!
very good verdict and sentence its so sad it was the the HANGING, I would have feel more secure with these two animals dead, cause it won’t be to long when the no shame Dickie Bradley or Arthur Saldivar come to them rescue I di tell uno!!!!
both those guys should have gotton the death penalty . now they get to sit in jail and enjoy life . what a bunch of bull.
HANG EM UP!!!….THEN THROW THEM OUT TO SEA FOR THE SHARKS!!….
Some how I believe one of these guy should have gotten a lesser sentence than the other. One actually pull the trigger that killed those people and the other might not have but he was still there so he is guilty also. Remember Pipersburg made a statement admitting he was there at Bowen that night while Patrick R. didn’t even admit he was there instead his focus was to turn different witness testimony around to his advantage. In my eyes I see Patrick R. the more cold blooded killer and that’s my view. Remember I am not saying Pipersburg is innocent but we on the outside do not know what happen that night we are just assuming because if you really go on the evidence that was presented in court we would see things differently. I feel for the family of the victims but sometimes we on the outside are the judge and jurors before hearing the evidence.
