COLA’s Conference after termination of its President from G.O.B. post
This Tuesday, COLA, is planning a press conference at the Battlefield Park to discuss the termination of its president, Moses Sulph, as an open vote registry clerk. On April twelfth, Sulph received his marching orders from the registry with immediate effect. No reason was given and COLA believes that the matter could end up in court. COLA says Sulph’s termination is unjustifiable and will be joined by the Public Service Union at Tuesday’s event.

I hope you realize that the international community is watching and you are giving a negative impression of our beautiful jewel.
First let me say that i don’t personally know Moses Sulph, and that I in fact, am not on his side on certain issues and views. But let me also add that before casting stones, a REASONABLE individual might consider the entire picture before judging.
Personally, I can’t hold it against Mr Sulph for speaking out against what he perceives to be actions and policies that are detrimental to our country’s development. As a Belizean, born or not, he has that right! For those who have the knee-jerk reaction that he is not from here, consider that there are Belizeans who are living in other countries, who have that same right!! Though I disagree with Mr Sulph on some issues, he has never to my knowledge publicly been vindictive, derogative, insulting, libelous or any of those negative terms. His opposition has always been aboveboard and responsible.
I am thinking that some “born”-belizeans immediate dislike to anything he has to say without considering the merits, is simply a manifestation of our own deep-seated inadequacies – we have become so afraid of challenging those in power because of fear, that we may actually resent those who are bold enough to speak out in the way we wish we could!
In the wider scheme of things, whether I agree with Mr Sulph or not, he is doing a SERVICE to Belize by agitating for change!! In a democracy, for better or worse, he has that right, as does each and every one of us. Anyone who wishes to muzzle Mr Sulph in regards to his outspokenness, is simply contributing to the further erosion of our already eroded democracy!!
Our country is in a lot of trouble, yet only a handful of Belizeans are ready to risk their jobs, or their livelihood for it.
This “Jewboy” is putting himself out there for us and quite frankly, he obviously has more love for this country than you Babarians!
This is one of the risk that public servants have in Belize. GOB has a large number of its public servants as OPEN VOTE so that they can just terminate them if the person does no do what they want regradless if it means breaking laws or doing things that immoral or unethical. Whilst a chosen few are placed under established staff. We need to require that our laws give justification of termination of employment especially for Public Servants. Moses…. luck with whatever route you take… beeen there dude.
Let’s not attack this young man.Why not attack the real issue.We are a democratic Country and yet someone can’t speak out without been a victim.What about freedom of speech.We need to wake up my Belizean people.All the bs that is been done by this Government is a violation of human rights.

Those attacking Sulph should be hiding in shame. Whether you agree with him or not, he is doing something that many of us have been cultured into shying away from. Our national character is to be shy about speaking up against the injustices we know are happening. Let us get out of that backward mentality and start applauding those with the guts to speak up. We don’t have to agree on all issues but we must never ever allow our voices to be muzzled and act like it is fair. We know damn well it is done to keep us in fear and following the heels of the politicians. It doesn’t matter our political affiliations, we need to stand up to preserve our democracy. If we allow this to be the norm then what can we expect next. I shudder to think!
As far as I know a person with a belizean nationality is a belizean! And if he is indeed not a belizean well then this “alien” as u refer to him as is doing more for our country than we are. If he lost his job only means he is standing up!
It is either a shot across the bow to make him & the others whose livelihood depends on the Government shut up or they had a good reason for termination, otherwise he will be reinstated & his boss transferred because he/she “misunderstood” the directions given by the big boss.
Why have we now resorted to name calling? There are few pure bred people in Belize, regardless of color or ancestral background, we are all Belizeans.
