Michael Palacio’s Grievous Harm and Aggravated Assault charges

Also appearing in court today was thirty-one year old Michael Palacio who was charged with of Aggravated Assault of an Indecent Nature upon a minor and Grievous Harm upon a female relative of the minor. Palacio was remanded to the Belize Central Prison after he was denied bail. The first charge is in connection with an incident that took place on June twenty-eighth, of 2010 when the child alleged that Palacio touched her inappropriately. The second charge was as a result of injuries that the woman claimed resulted from a misunderstanding with Palacio that took place on February twenty-sixth of this year. This morning when Palacio appeared before Magistrate Albert Hoare, the case was dealt with ‘en camera’. Palacio pleaded guilty to the charge of grievous harm upon the woman and he was slapped with a non-custodial sentence. However, he pleaded not guilty to the indecent assault and due to the nature of the offense allegedly committed upon the minor he was remanded to Hattieville Prison until May twenty-seventh.
