Boilers break down at B.S.I. Compound

Tonight the Tower Hill Factory is on a complete shutdown after its two boilers experienced mechanical problems. The first boiler broke down on Thursday morning, but grinding continued until the evening when the second boiler started to leak which then caused a complete halt of the operations. As of eight o’clock last night cane farmers stopped deliveries to Belize Sugar Industry’s Tower Hill factory. Cane farmers say that the first boiler is expected to be up and running sometime on Saturday after repairs. The second boiler is expected to be repaired in the next four days and by early next week, the factory is expected to be fully operational.  Just two weeks ago the Tower Hill Sugar Factory resumed operations at full capacity after six weeks of repairs and testing on turbines at the BELCOGEN plant. According to sources in the industry, the interruptions in the delivery of cane will likely affect the quality of the sugar.

Slowly but surely the machinery at BSI is showing signs of aging. Management should proceed to do a complete overhaul or purchase new machinery parts which are affordable to the company’s budget ASAP. We don’t want to hear another malfunction in the next 3 yrs we have mouths to feed and money to make….nuff said
