Garifuna Flava on Food Network

Now for the good news, a family from Dangriga is taking Chicago by storm with their Belizean cuisine. Rhodel and Yolanda Castillo opened a restaurant called Garifuna Flava in June 2008 and it has gotten rave reviews from patrons, in newspapers and television networks. But it gets better; the Belizean dishes will be introduced to the rest of the world because the Castillo’s will be featured on the hit TV show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, also known as Triple Ds, on the Food Network on Monday night. The host of the show, Guy Fieri, travels all over the United States and showcases the most popular food joints and dishes that keep customers coming back. According to Rhodel, they were contacted by the network in January and finished filming on March twelfth, with a total of thirty hours of footage. Video testimonials are posted on a Chicago website called Check Please with satisfied customers talking about the authenticity and flavors of the food at Garifuna Flava. The following preview of the restaurant and owners was also taken from that site.

Be sure to tune to Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network at eight o’clock local time on Monday night.

  1. Jody Rosenkoetter says:

I think it is not only heartbreaking but shocking that we(all life on planet earth) have come to this point. Everyone must ask themselves: Are we not the invasive species heavily tilting the biodiversity scale?
