Stabbing victims lose case

A woman was stabbed numerous times on September twelfth, 2009. During that incident her two children were also injured during this dispute with their neighbors. Their wounds have healed, but the family did not get the news they were hoping for when the accused man, Alexis Rojas, walked free today. Thirty-five year old Luisa Bardalez claims that she had gotten into a dispute with Rojas’ sister, Tulama Perdomo, who was accused of having an affair with her husband. Rojas was awakened by the commotion and according to Bardalez, he intervened. She told the court that Rojas pursued her down Giles Street, knocked her to the ground and started stabbing her on the back. Luisa’s children came to her rescue because Rojas was allegedly on top of her and refused to let her go. But her thirteen year old son was stabbed in the face and her fourteen year old daughter was stabbed in the abdomen. It wasn’t until another neighbor arrived and hit Rojas with a broom, that Luisa was released but by that time she had been stabbed fourteen times. In court, Perdomo admitted that Bardalez’s husband took her to work every morning, but said she was simply using his taxi services. Rojas, on the other hand, claims that he could not remember the incident because he was intoxicated when it happened. He told the court, however, that whatever he did to Luisa was in self-defense because she attacked him with a piece of stick. It’s not the best defense, but it was enough to convince the jurors to acquit him of the Attempted Murder of Bardalez and Wounding of her children.
What kind of jury buys the BS excuse that being too intoxicated to remember excuses an assault or attempted murder ? He was sober enough to chase the woman & stab her 14 times & wound her kids, No one excuses Bardalezes actions but this is ridiculous.

I would get drunk too and inflict the same treatment to him. A precedent has been set. Too much corruption and not even laws to defend us!
I would like to know what kind of jurors were appointed were they dumb jurors and I agree with (Justice) i will get drunk too and inflict the same treatment to the accused and to all the jurors.

This is so silly! it is obvious that he tried to hurt someone. how comes he cannot remember what he did if he was that drunk as he implies, but he can state that it was self deffence because she attack him first with a stick! this system really sucks! not even because they were kids who got hurt! Damn what is this world coming to!!
WOW…perfect example of the Belizean injustice system. Not really suprised at the outcome. I’m surprised when someone actually gets sent to jail for a crime.

It is a sad situation on my country. If this fool was so drunk, how was he able to walk or run down the street to stab this woman and her children. This idiot know what he was doing. A man that is so drunk he can’t remember anything is usually sitting somewhere in his own body fluid, with baba running down his face. He needs to sepnd time for attempted murder. Every fat fowl have his sunday, his will come.
