Moses Sulph, COLA President, says innocent of G.O.B. accusations

Moses Sulph

COLA’s President Moses Sulph recently found himself in hot water after his advocacy group staged a sleep out in front of the Prime Minister’s Office in the Capital against oil exploration. Soon after, it became known that he was under investigation and was subsequently fired from his post at the General Registry after alleged irregularities were found at his desk. Many political pundits believe he was under the microscope because of his activism with COLA. According to recent reports, the Auditor General found that one thousand six hundred dollars were not collected for marriage licenses.  Sulph worked as a Data Entry Clerk at the office, and not as a cashier.  But since the receipts eventually landed on his desk, he is apparently the official fall-guy.  Though he could not discuss the specifics of the case, Sulph made it absolutely clear today that he is innocent.

“I can safely say Moses Sulph was never or will never be involved up until I know of any wrong doing. That is not my way of life. So I can safely say that and I am sure at the end the outcome, I believe and know as in 2005 when I was charged with couple, different charges, the truth will prevailed. After it is done in court, then I will be more than happy to do a lengthy interview of what I consider to be a way of the government in trying to ruin my account, my credibility and trying to see how they can victimize me. I will say this generally and I hope I am not violating the advice of my president of the P.S.U. I’ve always believed that when you are going up against the state, there is a step of things that they take towards shutting you up. They would try to appease you first. Give you a job and see if you’ll be quite and then from there, they will try to cut off your income—making you lose your job and all of that. Then what they will try to do then is to either see how they can jail you or frame you because they want to shut you up. And if that don’t work, either they left you alone or try to take your life. If you look at history, this is what had happened to most activists—Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela—as long as you are fighting for the right of humans against the state, then they will come at you and I would hope those that know me and those that don’t know me clearly understand that I can say that I am involved personally in no wrongdoing. Whatever happened at the registry, irregularity talk; that had nothing to do with Moses Sulph. I am not a part of wrongdoing. That’s all I have to say about that matter at this time.”

COLA and the P.S.U. condemned his firing and called for his re-instatement. That didn’t happen and the matter will apparently land before the courts.
