Fabian Bain escapes prison

Fabian Bain

A prisoner, who is considered to be dangerous, is on the loose after escaping from custody this morning. The Belize Police Department and the Kolbe Foundation are now asking for the public’s assistance to locate thirty-one year old Fabian Bain, who also goes by the name Carlos Escalante. Bain was being escorted from the Belize City courthouse to the Central Prison at around eleven-forty-five a.m. and he managed escape near the junction of the Western Highway and the Hattieville/Boom road. His last known address was in the Junesville Area of Lake Independence, but he has been in prison since 2006 for the murder of security guard, Fortunato Chun. While on duty at Belize Water Services in November, 2006, Chun was shot on the left side of his neck. Bain was tried for the murder and in June, 2009 a jury deliberated for almost six hours, but could not reach a decision and a retrial was ordered. Anyone who sees Bain or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact the nearest police station.

What a joke. In Rome, if a prisoner escaped, his guard had to complete his sentence. Let’s make that the law here!

How hard is it to handcuff a prisoner to part of the vehicle?

  2. BZNinCALI says:

Did these people not learn anything after the last prisoner escaped? Why was this prisoner not shackled? Was the same employee who let the other one loose allowed to accompany this one because his bosses were trying to help him regain his confidence? At what point will public safety take precedence over greed?

  3. Rod says:

And the incompetence continues unabated as usual worse gov. In the history of Belize.

CALI, might be a little bit more complicated than sheer negligence.

  6. Moore says:

for clarification, he escaped from police custody while they were transporting him from court to prison.

  7. CRCN_CTZN_OF_BZE says:

It doesn’t matter if he escape from prison to court or court to prison. the point is he ESCAPED. how can that happen they should be handcuff and and properly secure so that that doesn’t happen. this just put our lives in danger because the people that live in that area could be hurt. he could be waiting at a house for the occupants to come home and ambush them. GOD FORBID but that is a reality that could well possible happen and i pray that it doens’t happen to me.

with all that id happening in Belize right now this just adds fuel to the fire and they just keep adding more fuel, when will it all burn out and we could start to live in peace again and stop resting in peace. Ii so pray for that day to come.

the gov’t of today needs to step up and start imposing jail time on the people who allow prisoners to escape. it just ridiculous.

@trudibel, my personal opinion is that it was done on purpose, no one who can walk upright, feed themselves & can find their way to work everyday is this stupid or inefficient. They’re corrupt.
