Hattieville resident loses life in highway accident
There was a terrible traffic accident on the Western Highway on Sunday night. At around seven-forty, twenty-four year old Lenard Gillett of Hattieville lost his life when a van collided into the truck he was travelling in. Police reports are that thirty six year old Jose Ortiz was driving a van between miles four and five when he swerved to his left to avoid hitting a cyclist. As a result, Ortiz collided into a pick-up truck driven at the time by thirty-nine year old Englebert Perera. Gillett was observed lying motionless on the street with a large open would to his left elbow, arm and abrasion to the left side of his hip and was pronounced dead on arrival at the KHMH. Travelling at the time in the pick-up were Mark Banner, Keisha Carter, Mabel Shepherd, Amini Luis and Maria Ortiz. Ortiz was served with notice of intended prosecution.
My symphathy and condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Gillet…I am truly sorry for your loss.
