Opposition party absent from House Meeting

The House and Senate approved the nationalization of B.E.L. with speed; the official opposition did not make it to today’s special sittings. They weren’t there because they claim the notice and House papers were not delivered to members until Friday night. The P.U.P. further states that the agenda did not warrant a special meeting and that even though reports were rampant that government was moving with the speed of lightning to take control of B.E.L., no supporting papers were issued to them. The P.U.P. also rails that the passage of crime bills without allowing adequate time for consultation is yet another indication of the complete lack of commitment to change and reform. The Opposition also condemned the practice by the government of calling meetings of the National Assembly and presenting major pieces of legislation to the Opposition at the eleventh hour.

I remember quite clearly when the UDP complained that PUP was doing the exact same thing. Are members of the PUP and UDP adults, or children, always having to get “back” at each other? Why can’t they at least act professionally, even if they’re not really professionals, which it seems they are not.

  3. WESTERNMERMAID says:

AN EYE FOR AND EYE AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH, MEIN, CAN’T BELIEVE THE PUP, THEY WANT OUR VOTE AND THEY STILL BEHAVING CHILDISH, THE PUP SHOULD HAVE ATTENDED THE HOUSE MEETING NO MATTA WAT, POOR LEE CARDONA WAS ALL BY HIMSELF, HE NEEDED THE PUP STRONG ARMS, THAT IS WHY WE NEVER HEAR HIM TODAY, HE WAS SO SILENT,
I DONE CHANGE MY MINE, I REALLY WANTED TO VOTE FOR PUP BUT HMMM BETTA NOT, THEY NEED TO GROW UP.

  4. rojelio bennett says:

IFthe PUP would have never sell out our country maybe, we would not be in this situation that we are in, and yet the critisie when the outher party is trying to gain back what is ritefully for the peolpe of belize. What the PUP don’t relize that if the win the next election they will be in countrol of it again….i just hope they don’t sold it out again.

  5. John Doe says:

That’s right rojelio. The PUP sold everything in this country. I give the PM some credit to take it back. If GOB does not foot the bill to CFE and others there will be total black out. Why should Fortis continue to own BEL if they can’t even pay their bills? There is no need for negotiation. The PUP all want foreigners to own belize. At least Dean is doing some right by the country. The takeover was swift, I agree, but by the end of the month Fortis would expect GOB to pay another 4 million to CFE. Go Dean!!! Keep showing this worthless PUP party we not up for their stupidity and LIES!!!!!

  6. Belizean Diaspora says:

Oh for God’s sake, these idiots can’t act their age for once, don’t they realize that if they are not in the house, how the hell are they called the opposition at that point. Belize seriously needs to rethink the PUP and the UDP, both essentially kick us to the curb, and don’t give a rat’s @$$ what they do to get in power and get paid, even if it means being silent.
