Eamon Courtenay says GOB Board is illegally occupying Telemedia offices
And while the law enforcement bodies are guarding the Telemedia office and keeping Dean Boyce out, attorneys say there’s nothing lawful about what GOB is doing. According to Attorney Eamon Courtenay, the members of the government appointed board are trespassing at the Telemedia office and can face consequences for illegal occupation.
Eamon Courtenay, Attorney
“The claimants won completely in the Court of Appeal so as a matter of law, the old people who were in charged and owned Telemedia have all legal rights to be there. On the other hand, you have the government, which lost all scores in the Court of Appeal, conceding by the Prime Minister on Friday night that they had lost, conceding that would hand over the company, conceding that they would not use the force of security forces to take possession of the company, completely reversing themselves and in the dark of night, under the cover of darkness with more than a dozen police officers unlawfully, illegally invading the compound of Belize Telemedia on Friday night. They remain in illegal and unlawful occupation, they are trespassers and there are consequences for that. And so we will come to that at another date. But as we sit here what we have is a situation where the Court if Appeal has said those who own the company should be there and those who have the force of security and who have the police and the army at their behest and beck and call in illegal occupation. The situation is that Mr. Boyce remains the Chairman of the Executive Committee, just that he can’t go into the building because…”
Marleni Cuellar
“He attempted to go into the compound.”
Eamon Courtenay
“He went first and was allowed and then when the illegal occupation started at midnight, he went there with his attorney to try to get in again and was physically prevented by using police dogs against them to get into the compound. The important point for Belizeans to understand, however, is that Mr. Boyce is now operating as he ought to as the chairman of the executive committee, giving instructions to staff members and making them know he is in charge and that they should follow his instructions.”
Barrow will find a way to overthrow this ruling. He thinks he is lord and master. I guess only in Belize there is no regard for laws!
When Barrow took govt. in 2008 and he so humbly spoke back then, I thought that change was perhaps not bad at all. However, very soon and as a mist, that humility vanished. There is no need to go over all the wickedness this man has subjected the Belizean people to. Suffice to say that this man looks like a lamb but acts like a dragon. While I continue to think that the BEL thing was necessary, I always said that TELEMEDIA was wrong. Mr. Ashcroft does not need anyone to defend him much-less me. As a matter of fact, I have never seen the man except in photos. The man has Courtenay and Co. plus his billions. After the Appeal Court ruling was made public on Friday and I heard Mr. Barrow humbly accepting the rule of law, I thought: AT LAST THE MAN HAS GROWN UP AND NOW HE IS FIT TO GOVERN. What a joke; this man has no honor much-less shame. BE CAREFUL MR. BARROW. THIS MAN CAN SUPPLY THE WEAPONS TO BRING YOU DOWN.
