Summer Camps galore and the Bliss has one for your child
There are spaces available for an exciting creative arts summer program so if you want to bring out your children’s hidden talents, you need to head out to the Bliss Centre. Registration is ongoing for the Summer Arts Institute 201, which will be teaching children ages seven and older how to dance, paint, sing and play instruments. Summer Arts Coordinator of ICA says the program caters to a wide range of interests.
Joseph Stamp Romero, Summer Arts Coordinator, ICA
“Well this summer we’re gonna make sure that the young people are well occupied. We have workshops in voice, piano, fashion design, dance and drama. We’re even doing a collaboration this year with Youth Voices and they are doing a series of workshops in creative writing, documentary, storytelling, stage presence. So there is a lot that will be going on for the next month or so.”
Andrea Polanco
“I know you’ll have several people coming in to work with these children. Who are some of these people who will be working with them over the summer?”
Joseph Stamp Romero
“It’s good you asked. We have Francis Reneau who is coming to work with kids in piano. We have Kellie Cadogan who is from Barbados who will be coming to work on voice. So we have a lot of people coming in. As I’ve mentioned we also have Youth Voices who have a lot of people who they’ve selected to be a part of their workshops. We have Dana Brown who is a part of the design week for ICA; who is also being a part of our summer arts doing an introduction to fashion design class. So we have some new faces coming in and some old ones.”
Andrea Polanco
“How long will this summer program run?”
Joseph Stamp Romero
“We start on the seventh of July and we go way in to end of August. So it’s a pretty long summer program. Some classes have morning sessions, some have afternoon sessions so it’s not an all day event for every class, but they’ll be pretty occupied because they will be here for some hours.”
Andrea Polanco
“So if the children want to get involved, how do they go about registering for the summer program?”
Joseph Stamp Romero
“Well there are forms available here at the bliss, so they can come in and ask for me and they can get themselves registered and get ready to be in a class. So it’s pretty simple.”
The summer program will be hosted country-wide in the months of July and August.
