In court news, there is a conviction and an acquittal to report tonight. Enrique Pandy, also known as “Red Rat” was convicted of Aggravated Assault of an Indecent Nature for molesting a young girl, who was only five years old. Pandy was unrepresented during the trial, which concluded on Tuesday evening and Magistrate Albert Hoare handed down the guilty verdict “in camera” this morning. Magistrate Hoare explained to Pandy that there was overwhelming evidence before the court to substantiate the charge. He was sentenced to three years imprisonment, effective today. The charge was levied in 2009, when the child reported that on June first Pandy touched her inappropriately at her home in northern Belize. Medical examinations followed the allegations and the outcome was even more disturbing. It was revealed that at the tender age of five years old, the child had been carnally known. Two other persons were sought by police for allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse with the little girl.

Yes although he should be punished, where was the parent? And to hear also that the child was sexually molested by two others! My three year old was never out of my sight.
