Case dropped against men who allegedly burgled Attorney’s office

Attorney Godfrey Smith’s Marine Parade Office was targeted by thieves on September ninth, 2010, but the six culprits were caught on surveillance cameras and the arrests were swift. Fredrick Waight, Jose Caliz, Charles Neal, Michael Fairweather, Kareem Gladden and Mark Alamilla were charged and pleaded not guilty to Burglary. But when the matter came up before Magistrate Emmerson Banner, Smith indicated that he did not want further action and the case was dismissed for want of prosecution. The witnesses were also unwilling to testify in the case. Five of the suspects were initially freed, but it wasn’t until this morning that Alamilla got the good news that the case against him has been formally struck out. During the burglary, a touch screen cell phone, a black iron safe and a cash pan containing four thousand dollars cash were stolen.
Why does a prominent lawyer condone crime like this? A very bad example for the rest of us.
Accolades to this brave young thieves,nothing new here in this story,its just crooks stealing crooks!hahah,about time someone in belize go after this rich boys,and not after poor belizeans.
Even the Attorney seems to be afraid of retaliation from these criminals.What the F has the Jewel became?If this Attorney is dropping charges,then what do we expect from the average Belizean citizens who are not members of the affluent Belizean communities.

i agree with smith why put a poor man in jail.after he see what the pm is doing to the poor it is time for the money guys to give back,the guy might become one of his soilder to jump the fence at Btl for him,remember the fifty millions is already down to thirty mil.so the poor alread lost 20 mil.and no job for them.look at all the immigration officer who walk .how much money did their boss collect ?Next one will be the drugs bust on the pg highway.everyone will walk,someone will make some big buck again.and the police dept.alreadt took care of the sgt.this case is bigger than the law.all the hype about Jeffereis going.ask yourself why is he back.Because he know who is doing what.He retired 2 time from the same job.and stilling holding the post.power to you Bro.
Criminal is criminal and so they deserve no break! We no wah hear that tiyad ‘poor man’ excuse no more…No No No. This is a simple case of one politician facilitating another. …………….!
