Jeffrey Locke, new C.E.O. of B.E.L.

Jeffrey Locke

Jeffrey Locke was tagged as the new Chief Executive Officer of Belize Electricity Limited on June twenty-first to replace Lynn Young when B.E.L. was nationalized. According to a B.E.L. release, Locke’s appointment is now official. The release says Locke has twenty years experience in the energy industry having taken up various positions at Shell Belize Limited, Shell Caribbean & Central America (SCCA) in Kingston, Jamaica, Shell Oil Products Latin America (SOPLA) in Bridgetown, Barbados and Blue Sky Belize Limited. Locke is quoted saying that “This Company is about the people who are here. As I come to understand the processes at B.E.L., the high standards of this skilled workforce reinforce my commitment to lead an organization that delivers quality service at the lowest possible cost to customers.” Even though his appointment is only now official, Locke was involved in negotiations with the CFE in Mexico seeking either a reduction in rates for electricity supplied to Belize or an increase in the credit line of ten million dollars. The details worked out are not yet known but so far, Mexico continues to supply electricity to Belize.

Damn looks like a mestizo could never get a high position with this UDP. Well atleast its a lesson to be learned who not to vote for again. This guys sounded greatly incompetent. Lets see what he got up.

  4. Elgin Martinez says:

What’s up with this mentality that only foreigners are capable of holding high office in Belize?Didn’t the PM stated that he was taking back BEL for the Belizean people? So why wasn’t a Belizean giventheoppertunity to apply for this position.I’ve got no problem with the highering of foreigners. However a Belizean most be first in line.Belizeans are unemployed and yet this PM is giving all the jobs to foreigners. There are alot of Belizeans walking around Belize with degrees who are capable of doing this job. This is a blow to the average Belizean who makes the sacrifice to get a higher Education and at the end of the day a foreigner is given a job just because he’s affiliated with the PM.Stop the NEPOTISM Barrow and Belizeans wake up and stop acting like some doh-doh Birds.

  5. deedee says:

WHY EVERY TIME SOMEONE GETS A POSITION IN A COMPANY ETC, SOME NUMB SKULL HAS TO BRING IN THE RACE CARD & SAY STUPID S*&% LIKE “a mestizo could never get a high position with this UDP”?????

  6. DUTIED CITIZEN says:

I SUPPORT DEE DEE IN GOVT MOST HEADS OF DEPARTMENT ARE HISPANIC ESPECIALLY IN THE WHITE COLLAR GOVERNMENT MINISTRIES, TOURISM AND THE LIST GOES ON. JUNITO IS IGNORANT- DON’T KNOW BETTER.

  7. Steve (Dual Citizen) says:

Ok, I’ll grant you the man knows how to move gas from a refinery, truck, or dock to gas stations, but this is noy EXACTLY the same thing as implementing, repairing, and maintaining an electricity grid for a country ALREADY STRAPPED FOR FOREIGN CURRENCY BEFORE OUR IDIOT P.M. NATIONALIZED A SYSTEM WE CAN’T AFFORD OR HAVE THE EXPERTISE TO PLAY WITH. AAAAAAYYYYYYYYYIIIIIYYYYYIIIIII!!!!

  8. Stand Corrected says:

Get your facts right Elgin Martinez. Jeffrey Locke was born and raised right here in Belize and is a bonafied Belizean. Give props where props due; to do otherwise would be uncivilized.

  9. Robert says:

That,s nastilization. Our own Pm is telling us Belizeans that if we are not of his family were are worthless.

  10. The Educated One says:

@Elgin….Jeffery is a born Belizean. What are you talking about???? (quizzical look on my face) He’s been an example to MANY young men in the city, he’s involved with his church community…If you didn’t know, now you do. Again, what are you talking about?

@Steve…a leader doesn’t necessarily need to know the ins and out of HOW things are done, that’s why they have other experts to handle the operations. A leader learns to understand the processes and makes them better, by empowering his people to get the job done. Mr. Locke will not be the one fixing the wire when it burst or fixing the grid when it needs repair….smh…

    Sometimes I wonder….

What is wrong with most of you people? Jeffrey’s appointment has nothing to do with crime or any of that other nonsense stated above. I know Jeffrey personally and believe me they could not have placed a more QUALIFIED person, a true belizean for that matter, in such an important position. He is highly educated and professional. Be proud Belize as one of your son’s was finally given an opportunity.
