GOB discards 8th proposed amendment to constitution

The debate is heating up on the newly proposed ninth amendment to the constitution. But there is the eighth amendment which entails the controversial and dreaded preventative detention. Last Wednesday, the prime Minister told News Five that the eighth was chilling in the refrigerator, but today, Cabinet decided to send the eighth to the garbage disposal. According to a Cabinet release, it is dead. But government is bent on passage of the ninth amendment Bill and decided at its sitting to speed up public consultations, to begin as early as August tenth in Belize City. The bill is designed to disallow any court challenge to constitutional amendments and to enshrine control of B.E.L., Telemedia and BWSL in government hands. Cabinet claims that the Opposition has already launched a public campaign against the Ninth saying that its passage was a way to guarantee and safeguard the passage of the eighth, thus its withdrawal. So preventative detention is off the radar, at least, for now because according to attorneys we consulted, the withdrawal could be a ruse since the government could resurrect the eighth if the ninth is passed.

ON THIS ONE, THANK YOU SO MUCH MR. PRIME MINISTER. I HOPE AND PRAY THAT YOU ALSO WILL FIND THE WISDOM AND THE COURAGE TO WITHDRAW THE 9TH IT ITS’ PRESENT FORM.

So slimy Barrow thought we Belizeans were brain-dead by bringing in the 9th amendment wrapped in his fake nationalism while still retaining the eight. Barrow won’t shed his dictatorship bid. What gives here? Is he that mentally sick? Then he must be relieved of his Prime Minister duties; if he is not sick, then he hates Belizeans and himself without bounds and reminds me of the great Albert Einstein said about like him in that the earth has its boundaries but human stupidity is limitless. Why would a legal scholar be so stupid? What clouds his thinking, his failed nature. Is it because he has not achieved anything in life? Look it ! Where is his success? none. The money he made with Ashcroft could be compared to a continuous shakedown. Did he win any spectacular legal cases? none. Is his claim to fame his selection to be Prime Minister? Hardly. Look at his record to date in that office. In a few words, he totally dis-oriented. everything : the economy is in shambles; his policies are in shambles; the UDP controlled is a failure and in shambles. his entire life appears a failure and in shambles. Some may say , well he made millions but he will lose that too and end in shambles. He made all his money by deception and deception is theft. Yes THEFT! from the Ashcroft money to the mad land/lease grab for petroleum reserve is theft. The Barrow man is transparent and predictable and a prostitute to money. But he has achieved nothing in life because even his assumption of the Prime Minister-ship is shrouded in failure, deception, intrigues. Besides, he seems to be listening to the catastrophic voices in the Caribbean goading him in a black power quest of dominance and false black hubris. All these things have failed, he has failed, his government has failed and so he must resign or be forced to resign. There is no other way for Belize as Barrow is out to destroy it.

This is telling me that the PM is not thinking through the decisions or is not considering the consequenses he is throwing around in his head. This makes a poor leader and one has to wonder the capability of him being one. I could have excuse the leader of the opposition had he done this but the PM should know better. In case you are wondering i am not a PUP. Had the PUP drafted the 9th amendment the PM would have been the first one on the picket line in his so call civel disobedience.

  6. Higher Level says:

@ Defend Bz, Indeed this shows that Barrow is not thinking things clearly through before he goes ahead makes these extremely dangerous amendments to the constitution. Remember the 8th amendment was to be his brilliant way to curbing crime. Now that he has withdrawn the 8th, so crime is to now go away in the same manner. This is craziness. This shows indeed very poor leadership.

  7. hard woking Belizean says:

We must put a stop to this craziness if not the day of tomorrow when we awake it will be too late!!! GOD bless Belize because we are heading in the abyss.
