ComPol gets in accident
Commissioner of Police Crispin Jeffries was involved in a traffic accident last Friday; he was unscathed. It happened at about one-forty at the junction of Fabers Road and the Western Highway. Commissioner Jeffries was in his Isuzu D-Max pick-up, coming from Hattieville to Belize City. According to Jeffries, a red and black Meilun motorcycle driven by forty year old Vince Parks was travelling in the opposite direction. Parks is said to have made a sudden U-turn in front of the pickup causing the collision. He was propelled from the motorcycle to the ground and sustained a cut to the back of the head along with some minor abrasions to his elbows. Today, Parks was served with a notice of intended prosecution by the Police Department for the traffic mishap.

Interesting….
This sound like animal farm…..some animals are more equal than others.
I think that the Police finally came to their senses. In many of these accidents, the victims is usually the one who has the fault, but the driver still ends being charged for it. I am glad it has happened like this, as it is obvious that these guys especially in Belize City, think that they own the street and could care less about the vehicular traffic that they are obstructing. I think that the Police need to start charging these guys for obstructing the free flow of traffic.
I agree with u Bzn2dabone. …. However, had it not been the Compol being involved on this accident, wud the “victim still have been served papers for intended prosecution????” My guess is NO, the driver of the vehicle wud hav been charged with driving with out due care and attention. WHAT’D GUD 4 ONE SHUD BE GUD 4 ALL…..

Yeah you re right bzn2dabone, this is where ammendments and laws should be adopted, These guys need to be dealt with, for all we know he could ve been killed and the driver would be charged, hopefully they apply justice to the common man as well and not just high ranking officials..!
bzn2dabone, do not be so happy!!! Remember he is the compol that is why the other guy was charged. if it was you or me or any common civilian, believe me we would be charged for driving without due care… etc… the law in Belize is not balanced!!!! the compol should be charged cause he was not careful and was not driving with due care or else the accident should be avoided!! this is what the police always tell civilians when involved in accident.
so when the bike rider swerves in front of you at the pedestrian walk by Atlantic Bank and you hit him who will be charged.??
Equal Justice – oh what truth you speak. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times people on both bikes and motorcycles swerve into your lane and then have the audacity to look at you as though you are at fault.
The bank cross walk, almost always its people on bike cutting across, when they should be walking the bike.
I once joked with a foreign friend about driving in Belize City, we don’t need no video games, we live in game!
Avoid drunk on bike = 10 pts
Prevent crackhead from washing car = 7 pts
Flip off airport taxi guy overtaking you on a narrow road = 8pts
Find parking infront of Li Chee = 20 pts (crack head wipes your windshield you lose 5pts)
Avoid getting ticket for still having tinted windows = 100pts
Overtake horse and buggy filled with tourist = 11 pts
Bride traffic officer = 0pts (come on anyone can do that)
Go over swing bridge at night with your lights on = 13 pts
Find a police car with all its lights working = 500pts
(please feel free to make suggestions to Grand Theft Auto – Belize City Edition 🙂 )
Great points here Racer. It came as no surprise that the COMPOL is off the hook. This is what we call CORRUPTION. Its starts from above. If I remembered when the accident happened, not even the police press officer came out to say something about the accident. They waited a few days to come up to something, now its the fault of the guy on the motor cycle. As far as I am concern, if you “rear end” someone’s vehicle, you are automatically in the wrong. On the other hand, if someone can tell me, when have you heard of a victim being charge? Normally its the driver that gets charge although he is not at fault. Nonetheless, this is the COMMISSIONER OF POLICE. Police minister, shame on you and your department. Get your act together. You only have a few more months to go anyway. We will come clean after your mess. Guess who will have to go first???? Yes you are right.
