78% of poll says no to the 9th Amendment
The controversial ninth amendment has stirred up emotions and there have been heated debates over the proposed bill. We asked our viewers this week if the government wants to nationalize utilities do you think it should remove people’s rights under the Belize Constitution to challenge such nationalizations in court? Seventy-eight percent of voters said no to the barring of judicial review while twenty-two percent said yes. One viewer commented on our blog that “Once the legislation passes that prohibits challenges, democracy has clearly taken a backseat to communist control and we can forget about attracting any business to Belize.”
What nothing to say here people. Continue saying no and lets see if the PM will back down this time. Remember he is the master of the games but never forget, never sleep with your eyes shut or he will slip on on us so quickly and then we’ll only be able to bark. I remember it said 20 years ago
that Dean Barrow would be the first dictator of Belize if he ever became PM. It is my belief that he is seeing the writing on the wall and is making a last minute attempt to hold on to power even if Belizeans want to change him. 78% is strong. What some Belizeans will do for a t-shirt. I saw them all line up to support the 9th but they all wore supprt t shirts and sounded uneducated. We don’t need a ninth amendment, we need to make these men uphold our constitution instead of trying to amend it, and why are you not adhering to the rule of law? you respected the ruling at first but now you are above the law. We will get our day at the poles, i hope.
