Belize Football Selection now official says Sports Ministry

There’s progress tonight between the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Council and the Football Federation of Belize.  All groups signed a memorandum of understanding that establishes the way out of the impasse. This means that the Ministry of Sports has committed to FIFA that it now accepts the Belize selection to participate in the second round of the World Cup Qualifiers Brazil 2014. In return, the F.F.B. agreed to full disclosure of all its registered clubs by August eighteenth.  The sports council must have observer status to the District Association Elections and the F.F.B. General Elections.  The Electoral Commission of the F.F.B. must have no affiliation—perceived or real—with the current F.F.B. Executive. The F.F.B. will submit its new Statutes and Electoral Code for the approval of the National Sports Council and for the completion of the registration process by October fourteenth.  And during the period leading up to the December tenth deadline for elections, the F.F.B. will have full access to the facilities of the National Sports Council. So that means the next home game will be played in Belize and not in Honduras as was the case in July when Belize beat Montserrat.

Good move Minister Saldivar……..All football fans ever wanted was to have fairn elections and see football move forward. This is a move towards that. Lets see if FFB and FIFA lives up to the Agreement.

Now it is time for football to move forward in Belize. However, this can only be achieved by new leadership, as the present ones have proven to be a total failure for football in Belize.

Good luck for the Belizean football team during the next games.
