Tour Operator/Radio DJ passes away after accident

Marvin Deras

Marvin Deras, thirty-seven year old radio DJ and Eco-tours operator, is dead after an accident that happened over a week ago. On Saturday August seventh, sometime around three in the morning, Deras was driving on the Northern Highway, when his SUV collided into another vehicle driven by forty-seven year old Lyndon Guiseppi. When Ladyville Police visited the scene, they observed both vehicles extensively damaged. At the time of the incident, it was reported that Deras suffered a broken leg and abrasions to the head. Both men were transported to the Belize Medical Associates. But on Monday August fifteenth around eleven a.m., Deras succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. According to the police report, Guiseppi, a Trinidadian National, was served with a notice of intended prosecution. The case has been forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

If it would have been a person with no means or finances the bloody police and dpp would have long time issued him with charges and taken him in bangles to the court. this is just a shame

  2. CEO says:

How come the ComPol did not get served with a notice of intent to prosecute after he knocked down the guy last week?

  3. Earl Grey says:

    AT 3:AM……….SOMEBODY WAS DRUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Do it right says:

The reason that they took so long is bc the man just died and they were waiting to serve both of them when the man recovered. The truth is that the accident was caused by the deceased. Deras was driving drunk and swerved into the oncoming vehicle. They didnt even need to serve this guy with the NIP bc the police had already determined that Deras caused the accident.

  5. eliza says:

why do they have to assume the other driver was wrong?…. The deceased could have been in the wrong too you know… do a proper investigation before you issue anything!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Elgin Martinez says:

Notice of intended prosecution what a joke. This man is not even a Belizean which means that he is a flight risk.As a result he should have been detained. The police department really need some logical reasoning classes.

  7. Elgin Martinez says:

Let’s not judge the deceased, that’s very unfair.

  8. Rosa Maria Cain says:

I wonder how extensive was the medical treatment that Mr. Deras received. After all, extensively damaged vehicles would suggest the possibility of some serious injury. I hope the head abrasions were treated with grave caution and urgency in case there was internal injury. I hope he received every care he needed, and nothing was overlooked. How sad. Please drive with caution at all times. There are too many tragic highway accidents.
