Surgery follows fall of the Father of the Nation

There is concern tonight over the health of the Father of the Nation. First Prime Minister George Price and leader emeritus of the People’s United Party, slipped in his bathtub at his Pickstock Street home. Price sustained an injury to the head and was rushed by ambulance to the hospital.  He underwent surgery before noon to remove a blood clot caused by the fall.  Price remains hospitalized tonight and is currently in intensive care. The family issued a brief and rare statement this afternoon. It says “This morning the Right Honorable George Price had a fall. He was taken by ambulance to Belize Healthcare Partners as a precautionary measure. Doctors determined that he needed surgery because of the fall. He pulled through without any complications and is resting. Family and close friends have visited with him. We ask all Belizeans to say a short prayer for the Father of the national as he recovers.” The elder statesman turned ninety-two years this past January. His authorized biography authored by attorney Godfrey Smith, which was scheduled for release this month, has been delayed for a few more months before it goes public. The book entitled George Price: A Hidden Life revealed is being published by Ian Randle Publishers of Jamaica.
