Joyce Shaw wins Lotto
The lotto jackpot climbed all the way up to one hundred and seventy-five thousand dollars for Saturday’s draw. And the lucky winner is Joyce Shaw, a teacher for over three decades from Unitedville, Cayo. Today she picked up a cheque for one hundred and forty-eight thousand, seven hundred and fifty dollars after taxes. Shaw has been buying lotto off and on for over four years and, like most players, she has her set of lucky numbers. But it was a quick pick ticket that won her the jackpot with the numbers 10-12-16-18 and 25. Shaw was one of the coolest winners we’ve met at the Tropical Gaming office and she says it’s because she had a feeling that a win was coming her way.

“Like the past two weeks I keep—well, what motivated me actually, it’s the great commercials with the lady in the bus and my girls keep telling me you look like dah lady in di bus. And I seh “I win di lotto, I win di lotto” and I would show myself saying I win di lotto and I said I will win it! And so I keep speaking to my parents whenever they come and I said I’m gonna win it I need some finances for a friend who is in bed, who is sick. And so it was Friday during the world food day at Central Farm I was speaking to a parent and he said you buy the lotto? I said yes, I do and I need to win some money at this point in time. And I told him I was going to win. So it’s not a surprise, it’s not a shock for me. I’ll be honest with you, I had the feeling. I was sleeping when I got the call because my girlfriend, she bought the ticket for me and she called me after ten o’clock informing me that I had won.”

In addition to the big jackpot, Shaw also won three numbers on a separate ticket for an additional, seven hundred and fifty-nine dollars.
I have been playing Lotto for the longest…religiously for the past 5 years, but I never seem to be able to win – not even 3 numbers (a measly $13 or $14). My problem is that lotto chancey; their ad stated that soon there was gonna be a winner for the lotto and look there was a winner. I kinda feel that they set the game so that someone can win. I have heard that they pre-record everything and couple of times too… Found out that the game does not show live at 9 p.m. and that it is actually recorded from an hour or two before… Mien why lie? Or it appears that you dont want to make it live so that people see what really happens… I notice that while people talk smack about Mega Bingo…mien they show it live…So why is it that we are not able to see the lotto draw live. I think this is something that should be looked into… I am a player or Lotto…but can we please get some transparency here…. This is just my honest opinion! I feel bamboozled.
While I am more than happy for Miss Joyce Shaw who won, I still feel that a lot of persons don’t get that opportunity to win.
That is true. I am familiar with someone who is involved with lotto gaming and she told me yes, lotto is pre-recorded. It is not live. Hence, the game is rigged.
