Security Guard executed on the job in O.W.
The long list of murder statistics for this year has gone up by two and now stands at one hundred and eight. Two men were killed over the weekend, one in Orange Walk and the other in the City. In both cases the motives are unknown. A security guard was killed in a pre-dawn murder in Orange Walk Town on Saturday. Someone wanted fifty-nine year old Thomas Antonio Moguel dead; he was executed at his workplace when two men came from behind at the Shell One Shop gas station and fired the deadly shot to the back of his head. Moguel was sitting near the gas pumps where he died instantly. A surveillance video captured the incident and police are looking for one suspect.

The cold blooded murder of a security guard at Shell One Stop Gas Station in Orange Walk has left family, friends and co-workers in a state of shock and grief. Police are also puzzled as to why fifty-nine year old Thomas Antonio Moguel was killed execution style at around four thirty-thirty on Saturday morning. His Common-law-wife, Solanie Ewan, relayed the horrific incident.
Solanie Ewan, Common-Law-Wife
“Well, I just know that two persons shot him and he died right there where he was working.”
Delahnie Bain
“You saw the surveillance video?”
Solanie Ewan
“Yes I did. I just saw when he got up and gone spin dah Shell One Stop and den he gone sit down. Like three minutes after two people—like only shadows—two shadows come running, one pan ih back and di other one shot ah and den dehn ran away. Dats it caz ih noh look good.”
The killers jumped over a low fence at the back of the gas station and approached Moguel from behind. After shooting him, the assailants made no attempt to enter the building, which has ruled out robbery as the motive.
Solanie Ewan
“I don’t know why they did it. I don’t have any idea. I’m still puzzled. To me, he was a good person. He… he was just a good person. He treat dem good and ih helpful. When maybe you need something mek ih fix for you, ih help yoh dats all.”
Delahnie Bain
“And he didn’t have any problems with anyone as far as you know?”
Solanie Ewan
“Well, he didn’t tell me anything. If he did, well he kept it to himself.”
Along with Ewan, Moguel leaves behind two sons; ages five and two years old. The loss is devastating, but Ewan says she must be strong for her children.
Delahnie Bain
“So how have you been coping with this after seeing that?”
Solanie Ewan
“Well, I di ker it on.”
“And now you’re basically facing raising you’re two kids on your own. Are you ready for that?”
Solanie Ewan
“Well, I’m not ready but that’s life. I have to face it.”
While his attackers arrived and left on foot, a van was abandoned in front of the gas station with the keys inside since Saturday. Police processed the vehicle today, but it has not yet been determined if there is a connection to the murderers. Delahnie Bain for News Five.
I hope the police and DPP are up to getting a conviction on this one.
Convict them, THEN HANG THEM.
No mercy for killers in Belize.
This is a result of our government’s idiotic behavior, negotiating with criminals.. and it will get worse since the stolen guns were all a part of the agreement since he cant commit in other ways.. what better way to say.. here gang leaders send your men at this time in ..
what in the world is going on with our country.. Are we waiting for one of our relatives to get hurt ???????
CAPITAL PUNISHMENT, no mercy since they don’t know what that is..
Above comments: are you guys reading the same news? Robbery was not a motive and I don’t think the security guard was in gang. Apparently this was an execution. The question is who has a motive?
Murder for hire! Someone may have wanted him out the way; he has a very young woman!
Unless he has other dealings that no one else knows of!
