Danny Anderson trial for murder of Joyce Mitchell
The trial against Danny Anderson for the senseless murder of nineteen year old Joyce Mitchell will go to trial in the Supreme Court. Mitchell was shot on the head as she sat on the back of a vehicle in June 2010. A preliminary inquiry started this morning before Chief Magistrate, Anna Marie Smith, where Anderson was given a paper committal; meaning that he did not challenge the evidence that police have against him. Anderson was unrepresented in court, but he was informed that he has seven days to present the names of witnesses if he has any. He indicated to the court that he has as many as three alibi witnesses who can testify that he was elsewhere at the time of Mitchell’s murder. The incident is believed to have been in retaliation for the murder of South Side Gang leader Andre Trapp, who was gunned down in front of the Magistrates Court a week earlier. Anderson is a known affiliate of the S.S.G. while Mitchell’s brother, Osmond, is said to be aligned with the rival Ghost Town Gang.
If he’s convicted, he must hang. No mercy, no exceptions, no excuses for murderers in Belize.
You kidding me seven days for what?To intimidate witnesses so the case can be thrown out.Hang this fool.
you people are killing me with these comment! OMG!
Gang members should take heed from this young man’s plight. He killed this lady in retaliation for someone (Trapp) who was already dead, instead of her brother who he apparently could not find. These senseless killings in Belize has to stop. Where are his homies (gang affiliates/gang family) now when he needs an attorney to defend him in court? He found out the hard that when days are dark, friends are few. May God have mercy on your soul Danny Anderson. You people need to stop playing God with people’s lives.
Sweet Joyce I pray you get justice. This month you would have been 21 years old.
Today I lit a candle and whispered a silent prayer. That though you are gone Joyce, for you to always be near. May we think of you in the morning, remembering your timid smile. To always recall a clear picture of your face. to hold you forever in our hearts and mind.
Today I lit a candle and whispered a silent prayer, May your murderer be brought to justice . Let him punish for his crime.
We need to stop being SOFT ON CRIME…EXAMPLES NEED TO BE SET to Discorage future crime.
Pity we can’t HANG HIM at bridge foot ON LIVE TELEVISION.
